  • Patent number: 5240540
Abstract: A method for producing a filter element has three steps. In first step, a filter body including at least one first passageway and at least one second passageway or clearance extends closely and substantially parallel to the first passageway and communicate with first hole through a filter material is formed. In second step, a sheet-shaped thermoplastic adhesive is arranged on one end of the filter body, the first passageway and the second passageway or clearance are open at the one end of the filter body. In third step, the sheet-shaped thermoplastic adhesive is melted by heating to close and seal an end of the second passageway or clearance at the one end of the filter body so that the passageways do not deform.

  • Patent number: 4746432
Abstract: A filter element has a generally ring-like structure which basically comprises a plurality of generally radial sections circumferentially arranged to define a central space. Each radial section has a plurality of circumferentially zigzag pleats formed from a ribbon of a filtering sheet material. The radial sections are circumferentially connected such that radially inwardly open generally radial spaces and radially outwardly open generally radial spaces are defined. The radially inwardly open radial spaces are closed at the axially opposite ends by end walls. Fluid to be filtrated can enter the radially outwardly open radial spaces and then passes through the zigzag pleats into the radially inwardly open radial spaces and thus into the central space. The ring-like structure has many modifications.

  • Patent number: 4738778
Abstract: The filter element of the present has a plurality of wavy portions which are so arranged that a plurality of wavy portions make a generally ring like structure. In order to reduce the pressure drop when the fluid flows through the filter element, the present filter element has a special shaped radial gaps. Namely, the width of a first radial gaps, which is formed within adjacent wavy portions and which connects with an inner space formed at the center of the generally ring like structure, increases from the outer end thereof to the inner end thereof. The width of a second radial gap, which is connected with outer atmosphere, decreases from the outer end thereof to the inner end thereof. • Patent number: 4486206
Abstract: A cyclone type air cleaner has a cylindrical housing having a tangential air inlet formed in the peripheral wall of the housing and an air outlet formed in the upper end wall thereof. A downwardly converging frusto-conical member having a central opening is disposed in the housing coaxially therewith to divide the interior of the housing into a first or upper swirling chamber and a lower space in which a cylindrical or annular member is disposed coaxially with the central opening to define therein a second or lower swirling chamber communicated with the upper swirling chamber through the central opening. The cylindrical or annular member cooperates with the housing peripheral wall to define a dust-collecting chamber communicated with the lower swirling chamber through an annular gap defined between the frusto-conical member and the cylindrical or annular member. An axial flow type filter element is disposed between the upper swirling chamber and the air outlet.

  • Patent number: 4300928
Abstract: A structure for supporting an air filter on a carburetor, the air filter having a casing accommodating an air filtration element and a cap adapted to close the upper opening of the casing, the cap being adapted to be centered and fixed to the carburetor by a cooperation of a center bolt projecting upward from the carburetor and a butterfly nut. The supporting structure has a supporting member adapted to be fixed to the carburetor, an annular disc-shaped first resilient member connected at its inner periphery to one end of the supporting member and at its outer periphery to the casing of the air filter, and a second resilient member through which the cap of the air filter is fixed to an opposite end of the supporting member. The vibration of the casing and the cap of the air filter is avoided thanks to the first and the second resilient members which insulate the casing and the cap from the vibration caused by the engine to which the air filter is attached.
