  • Publication number: 20100331105
Abstract: A putter having a shaft and a lightweight club head, with a low center of gravity. The club head has the shape of a U seen from above having two side portions forming the legs and a central portion connecting the side portions defining a ball striking surface. The club head has a weight of 140 to 230 grams, such as 160 to 220 grams, for example about 200 grams. The center of gravity is positioned a distance above the lowest point of the club head, 2 to 12 mm, preferably 3 to 8 mm, for example about 4 mm. The shaft is attached to the club head with an angle (?) in a direction forward along the target line as seen from the club head and upwards. Angle (?) is 2° to 10°, preferably 3° to 8°, for example 4° or 5°.

  • Publication number: 20080222846
Abstract: A utensil comprising a shaft and an operative unit (101), the shaft having a first shaft member (102), where the operative unit (101) is attached, and a second shaft member (103) for being held by a user, the shaft members being joined by a pivotal connection. The assembly of the first shaft member (102) and the operative unit is configured to have a center of gravity, which is substantially directly below the pivotal connection (104), in a work position of the utensil.

  • Patent number: 5454564
Abstract: Putter and method of using the putter by a golfer for hitting a golf ball along an intended target line. The golfer places himself in a position with his face facing the target and curves himself somewhat forwards into a relaxed position and twists around a vertical axis and/or inclines himself somewhat to the side so that the head and the eyes are positioned essentially above the target line. Then, the natural pendulum movement of the arm will be essentially parallel to the target line. The grip (12) of the putter is adapted so that when the hand grasps the grip of the putter, it does not influence upon the pendulum movement of the arm, which means that the symmetry axis of the grip comprises a backward angle relative to the vertical of between 10 and 40 degrees and an inwards angle of between 5 and 15 degrees.

  • Patent number: 4843816
Abstract: At a low part load, and at idling of a vehicle machinery it is difficult to obtain a good fuel economy and acceptable emission rates. The amount of work for driving the compressor and the auxiliary apparatuses is considerable in a gas turbine, and in view of the conditions mentioned the combustor of the gas turbine is provided with two burners, of which one is dimensioned for a fuel quantity which merely corresponds to "spare-flame" operation. An auxiliary motor means is included in the machinery and keeps, together with the "spare-flame" operation. An auxiliary motor means is included in the machinery and keeps, together with the "spare-flame" burner, the main rotor of the gas turbine running at idling and part-load. The auxiliary motor may be an electric motor, a pressure fluid motor, or a combustion engine. The compressor is provided with means for throttling the flow of air, and a control device operates this throttling means so it is effective during "spare-flame" operation.

  • Patent number: 4678193
Abstract: Swing starter (1) comprising a straight target rod (2) and a curved rod (3)interconnected by a web (4). The curved rod has a radius of curvature of about 1.55 m and a length of about 0.6 m. The front portion (5) comprises a convex mirror (6) having a indicator line (7) parallel with the target line. The swing starter is placed on the ground having a pin (9) thereof extending down into the ground. The pin allows the swing starter to be pivoted under friction around an axis parallel to the target line. The golfer places himself beside the swing starter opposite the front end (5) thereof. The swing starter is pivoted until a convex mirror (6) positioned at the front end of the curved rod indicates the correct swing plane has been achieved by viewing the shoulder portion of the golfer at a line (7) of the mirror. The upper surface of the curved rod may be provided with a color, e.g., red, differing from the color, e.g. white, of the remaining portion of the device.

  • Patent number: 4674284
Abstract: The turbocharging plant of an internal combustion engine includes two turbines connected in series, of which one drives the compressor and the other transfer its output to the engine mechanically. The turbines and the compressor are mounted at the same side of the engine. The turbines can be designed to handle the gas in a radially inwards directed flow, the downstream turbine being mounted at a lower level than the upstream one, and receiving the gas by way of a double volute device. A third turbine desinged to handle the gas in a radially outwards directed flow may be interposed between the two first mentioned turbines.

  • Patent number: 4638637
Abstract: An internal combustion engine for vehicle propulsion has a number of cylinders arranged in two parallel planes and connected to two crank shafts within a common engine block. A selectively operable clutch is fitted at at least one of the crank shafts, and a gearing coordinates the output from the two crank shafts. A coupling is provided between the gearing and the output shaft of the engine plant.

  • Patent number: 4613133
Abstract: Driving device for golf practice, comprising a platform (43) having a suitable upper surface for the golf stroke, the platform (43) being adjustable to incline in any direction to simulate play in upward slope, downward slope or the like, characterized by a centrally positioned downwardly directed pillar (61) arranged below the platform (43), said pillar being vertically displaceable and rotatably arranged in a tube (57) which is fixed part of a plate (55) intended to rest on the ground or other support, by support means (53) imparting stability to the platform (43) when in a lowered position, and by a lifting device (83, 85, 91, 93, 95), by means of which the platform (43) can be raised to an upper position and rotated thereat to the desired orientation and then again lowered to stable lowered position.

  • Patent number: 4566279
Abstract: A vehicle power plant comprising a number of engine working cylinders arranged in two groups with different numbers of cylinders and/or with different power outputs, the parts being individually connectable to a common power take-off shaft by a continuously variable belt transmission. A gearing, including a reverse step, is mounted with its axes of rotation parallel to the crank shafts of the engines and connects the belt transmission to the vehicle output shaft. This vehicle power plant produces good fuel economy, high top power output, low exhaust emissions, and good acceleration capacity.

  • Patent number: 4474007
Abstract: Outlet and inlet conduits of an internal combustion engine are united in, and carry a housing enclosing a rotor spool having one turbine and one compressor wheel. A cavity in the housing, the longitudinal axis of which is substantially parallel to a middle plane through the row of engine cylinders is adapted to receive the casing of the turbocharger, and may be designed in such a manner that the casing may be slid into the housing in the axial directions, without the housing having to be removed from the engine. Alternatively, the outlet and the inlet conduits may each, per se, be collected and form one half of the housing. The halves are brought together over the rotor spool, from both ends thereof. Resilient sealing members are preferably fitted between the two halves of the housing. A second exhaust gas turbine may be connected to the exhaust conduit from the supercharger, and may be adapted to drive at the power take-off shaft of the engine, or to drive some auxiliary.

  • Patent number: 4417551
Abstract: In order to improve the fuel economy of a vehicle engine, its cylinders are divided into two groups, which are operable independently of each other. The fuel system is adapted to supply either, or both groups with fuel. The crank shaft of one cylinder group is connectable to the power take-off shaft by means of conventional transmission and clutch means, while the crank shaft of the other cylinder group is connectable to the power take-off shaft by way of a transmission arrangement running in parallel to the row of cylinders, and comprising a shaft. The auxiliaries of the engine are mounted at the end of the engine remote from the power take-off shaft, and can be driven from either group of cylinders by way of the transmission arrangement.
