  • Patent number: 5506587
Abstract: A plurality of movable objects, such as aircraft, are provided with GPS receivers, enabling the individual determination of longitude and latitude. Further, the receiver also receives a very precise time base from the GPS satellites. This very precise time base is used to enable all of the plurality of movable objects to transmit in a predetermined radio frequency their identities and positions in precisely determined time blocks. By limiting the range of the frequencies used by the movable objects to transmit, the range of receivability is limited, such that the system may be implemented as a worldwide overlapping mosaic. The transmissions of each movable object may be received by all of the plurality of movable objects, as well as by air traffic monitoring centers on the ground.

  • Patent number: 4717928
Abstract: An arrangement for producing a pattern on a light-sensitive surface by means of a spot of light (16) capable of being moved over the surface. The spot of light is generated by means of a beam of light emitted by a lighting unit, which is directed at the light-sensitive surface and is caused to strike the surface intermittently in the form of flashes of light. This takes place whilst the beam of light is moved over the surface in accordance with specific instructions from a control unit. The pattern is made up of lines running not only in a selected reference direction, but also at right-angles to the selected reference direction, and also at at least one further fixed angle to the reference direction. The lighting unit contains an aperture by means of which the width of the line can be set.

  • Patent number: 4303986
Abstract: A system and apparatus for managing the picture memory of a digital color graphics imaging system, thereby enabling images on a display monitor to be changed efficiently at high rates, and more specifically a control system which comprises a video memory controller having an internal memory for a digital color graphics imaging system. The controller operates under the direction of a host computer to generate synchronized color data signals for input to a cathode ray tube monitor or other suitable graphical display device. The controller is effective to randomly address its memory at high speed and serially read, but not serially write, the data stored in the memory at TV rates for displaying on the monitor. The particular embodiment of the controller disclosed herein has a universal organization which may be adapted for use in various computer graphics systems.
