Abstract: A life-saving device that comprises a storage unit (1), an opening (3) arranged at one end of the storage unit (1), a rope (10) attached to the storage unit (1), the rope (10) being received inside the storage unit (1) when the rope (10) is in inactive position, a weight (9) and a floating body (7), that a closed lifting loop (15) is connected to the rope (10) or that in the area of the end of the storage unit (101) that faces away from the opening (3) a fastening element (19) is connected to the rope (10), the fastening element (19) having a coupling function and may be detachably engaged with the rope (10). It is significant for the life-saving device according to the present invention that a portion of the rope (10; 210) is designed as a gripping ladder (10A; 210A).

Abstract: A press with oppositely acting rams which has the features of maintaining parallel press plattens during operation and also good alignment of the plattens in relation to the central pressure axis. Two closed links are positioned side by side and each link carries a platten support cantilevered into the cavity of the other link and the rams act between the cantilever portion and the link into which it is cantilevered. In one form the links are closed while in the other form the links are C-shaped to provide a gap press.

Abstract: A high pressure apparatus for the manufacture of diamonds includes a pressure chamber formed of holes in annular, disc-like members arranged one after the other and a pair of opposed pressure-exerting members movable into the chamber formed by the holes with compressible gaskets arranged between adjacent disc-like members. The pressure exerting members are frusto-conical and the ends of the holes adjacent these members are similarly shaped.

Abstract: Ice-prod with tips furnished with handles and a flexible device of a given length, which couples two ice-prods together, the tips of the prods being at an angle of about 45.degree. to the longitudinal axis of the handles.
