Abstract: A shoulder pad for football players comprising a left-hand member which fits over the left shoulder and a right-hand member which fits over the right shoulder. Each of the members is a relatively rigid member of generally inverted U-shape as viewed from the side and has a chestplate portion, a backplate portion and an arch integrally connecting the plate portions. Each member has padding on the inside thereof with the padding at the top of the arch comprising an inner portion beneath the arch and an outer portion extending laterally outwardly beyond the arch. The outer portion has front and back sections which are separate toward their outer ends for allowing the sections to spread apart on upward movement of the outer part of the shoulder. A cover pad overlies the separate outer ends of the front and back sections and is hinged to the inner portion of the arch padding for permitting the cover pad to swing upwardly on upward movement of the arm at the shoulder.

The arches are relatively narrow in relation to the width of the shoulders. Each of the members has padding on the inside thereof with the padding at the top of the arch extending laterally over the shoulder and having an inner portion generally beneath the arch and an outer portion covering the outer part of the shoulder. The inner and outer portions are hingedly connected with the outer portion having a back section adjacent the backplate and a front section adjacent the chestplate.

The arches and padding thereunder are relatively narrow in relation to the width of the shoulders so as to provide freedom for upward movement of the outer part of the shoulders without substantial interference from the arches. A pair of caps of relatively rigid material adapted to fit over the outer portion of the shoulders are flexibly connected to respective arches and have shoulder padding on the inside thereof separate from the arch padding for enabling the caps and the shoulder padding to move freely upwardly upon upward movement of the outer part of the shoulders.

Abstract: An improvement in a lightweight camper's tent having a special combination of entry and support means wherein the support means opens and closes to permit the camper to enter and erect the canopies of the tent from the inside after entry. This arrangement is unique and allows the camper the alternative of sleeping in the open until the weather dictates that the tent be closed and this said closing may then be accomplished from the inside.

Abstract: A cleated athletic shoe having a special sole formation and a flexible arch section for reducing the danger of injury to the knee upon a lateral blow on the knee and for providing arch support when needed but freedom when arch support is not needed.
