Abstract: A method of treating a subterranean formation including providing a treatment fluid comprising an aqueous carrier fluid, a crosslinking agent, a pH-adjusting agent, and a terpolymer that comprises 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, acrylamide, and acrylic acid monomer units, or any salt thereof, where the treatment fluid does not include any gel stabilizers, or only minimal amounts of gel stabilizers. The treatment fluid is introduced into a subterranean formation and is allowed to form a gel in the subterranean formation.
