  • Publication number: 20190138248
Abstract: A request for changing data of a file system data structure stored on a shingled magnetic recording (SMR) drive is received. The data change is logged in a log entry of a log structure stored in a non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM). The log entry is added as a new entry at an end of the log structure. The log entry is marked within the NVRAM as modified and a predetermined criterion is determined to be satisfied. Responsive to determining that the predetermined criterion is satisfied, the NVRAM is searched for log entries marked as modified. The modified log entries are stored to the SMR drive.

  • Publication number: 20190141063
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring states of operation of a computer environment can include one or more computer servers identifying a target asset of the computer environment and establishing a communication link with a computing device associated with the target asset. The one or more computer servers can determine a first set of parameters for profiling the target asset, transmit a first query for the first set of parameters to the computing device via the communication link, and receive one or more first parameter values corresponding to the first set of parameters responsive to the query. The one or more computer servers can compare the one or more first parameter values to one or more first criteria or threshold values, an determine a state of operation of the target asset based on the comparison. The state of operation can be indicative of an abnormal behavior associated with the target asset.

  • Patent number: 10275482
Abstract: A current minimum memory requirement for each memory consumer of one or more memory consumers of a primary database system is received. A current memory allocation for a standby database system is received. A set of benefit-to-cost metrics is received. A benefit-to-cost metric is a measure of whether each memory consumer would benefit or would not benefit from additional memory. The set of benefit-to-cost metrics is applied to the standby database system to define an upper bound memory allocation of the standby database system to function in the event of a failover from the primary database system. A scaling factor is determined. In response to receiving an indication of a failover of the primary database system to the standby database system, a ramp up of the standby database system is monitored. The ramp up of the standby database system uses the set of benefit-to-cost metrics and the determined scaling factor.

  • Publication number: 20180367319
Abstract: A power over Ethernet (PoE) system includes a device and a power sourcing equipment (PSE) device that is configured to couple to the device through an Ethernet cable. The PSE device detects, in response to the device being coupled to the PSE device, that the device is a powered device. Subsequent to detecting that the device is a powered device, the PSE device determines whether a powered device identifier has been received from the device. In response to determining that a powered device identifier was received from the device, the PSE device determines that the powered device identifier identifies an authorized powered device. The PSE device then identifies a powered device classification of the powered device, and provides to the device via the Ethernet cable, first power according to the powered device classification.
