  • Patent number: 10827845
Abstract: A support cushion for providing individualized heating and cooling to a user resting on the support cushion is provided. The support cushion includes a body supporting layer and a base layer positioned adjacent to and below the body supporting layer. The base layer defines a cavity with a support insert positioned within the cavity. The support insert includes a bag defining one or more outlet holes positioned adjacent to the body supporting layer and further defining an inlet hole. A fan is operably connected to the inlet hole of the bag to provide air flow into the inlet hole of the bag and out of the one or more outlet holes of the bag. Methods of controlling the surface temperature of a support cushion are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20170150822
Abstract: A support cushion cover assembly for removing humidity and heat from a contact surface of a support cushion is provided. The support cushion cover assembly comprises a support cushion cover that includes an upper panel having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a middle spacer layer positioned between the top surface and the bottom surface. The support cushion cover further includes an amount of hygroscopic material and at least one flexible tube that defines a plurality of fenestrations. Each fenestration is in fluid communication with the middle spacer layer of the upper panel. An air pump is further included in the cover assembly and is operably connected to the flexible tube, such that an amount of air is delivered into the flexible tube and the middle spacer layer of the cover. Methods for removing humidity from a contact surface of a support cushion are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7753009
Abstract: An appliance having an enclosure arranged to receive articles to be treated also includes a water container and a steam chamber with a steam outlet. A water dispenser is arranged to dispense water from the water container to the steam chamber. A heating element is thermally associated with the steam chamber. A control is arranged to selectively operate the heating element. A steam path extends between the steam outlet and the enclosure. A chemical dispenser is positioned along the steam path. The heating element heats water in the steam chamber to create steam, and the chemical dispenser adds a chemical to the steam as the steam passes through the steam path.
