  • Publication number: 20230106470
Abstract: A method for synthesizing a nanohybrid comprising forming a polymer solution by dissolving carboxymethyl chitosan and gelatin in a 2-(N-Morpholino)ethanesulfonic acid (MES) buffer, forming a first solution by adding (3-Glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) to the polymer solution, forming a second solution by adding an acid-hydrolyzed tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) solution to the first solution, forming a third solution by adding a calcium chloride (CaCl2) solution to the second solution, forming a fourth solution by mixing the third solution with a solution of 1 ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC) and N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS), forming a frozen nanohybrid, and thawing the frozen nanohybrid.

  • Patent number: 8145326
Abstract: A perimodiolar electrode for cochlear implantation includes an electrode carrier having a front end and a back end. The electrode carrier includes one or more contacts and a hydrophilic segment that swells after insertion in a cochlea and detaches at least in part from the carrier. In accordance with related embodiments, the hydrophilic segment may detach from the electrode carrier between the front end and the back end. The detached hydrophilic segment may surround the modiolus of a scala tympani of the cochlea or the inner wall of a scala tympani of the cochlea.

  • Publication number: 20110218472
Abstract: The various embodiments herein provide a polymer wound dresser in which no drug is used and a method of producing the same. According to an embodiment, a wound dressing film comprises a base polymer film and a laminated backing layer on the base polymer film. The base polymer film includes a natural polymer, a biopolymer and an artificial water absorber polymer. The natural polymer is a chitosan having a preset weight percentage. The biopolymer comprises one or more element selected from a group comprising of a gelatin having a preset weight percentage and a collagen having a preset weight percentage or a combination thereof. The artificial water absorber polymer is selected from a group comprising of a hydrophilic material having a preset weight percentage. The wound dressing film is a single film or a double layered film or a three layered film.

  • Publication number: 20090298953
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for making a composition which comprises of an array of unsaturated, aliphatic, biocompatible and biodegradable polyesters with photo curing capability which upon mixing with an active ingredient will provide an inject able liquid or putty-like material. The composition can be injected via a customary syringe and needle and be photocured in situ using visible light irradiation. Changing in the network crosslinking, molecular weight of the linear polymeric precursors and their chemical structures can control delivery rate of the active ingredient from the device.
