  • Patent number: 4360148
Abstract: A sliding lid is disclosed for use on open top tapered trays having angularly disposed side walls and no top flange. The lid is prepared from a blank of flexible material such as paperboard or the like and comprises a central panel having inside and outside panels and a glue flap foldably attached to each side edge thereof. The inside and outside panels are folded to produce side flaps that are fixed in place when the glue flaps are adhered to the inside of the central panel. In their fixed position, the side flaps are angularly oriented with the lid central panel so as to grip the tapered side walls of the tray when the lid is in place.

  • Patent number: 4342417
Abstract: An end loaded compartmented carton is formed from a cut and scored blank of paperboard that is preglued and shipped to the user in a generally flat folded condition for loading. The carton when squared is of essentially rectangular configuration and contains a full length internal false wall located between two opposed carton side walls to form two compartments in the carton and a bridge panel for one of the compartments that is located between the false internal wall and an adjacent carton side wall. The compartment containing the bridge panel is formed without any double thick panels or other overlapped panels which could produce obstructions that might interfere with the easy loading of the carton.

  • Patent number: 4247038
Abstract: A polygonal shaped, tray-like receptacle which includes an integral bottom wall, side wall and peripheral flange is formed from a single blank of paperboard wherein the side walls and peripheral flange are divided into individual segments. The side wall segments each include a tab element that is foldably attached to a lateral edge thereof and which is secured to the outer surface of the next adjacent side wall when the receptacle is formed. Meanwhile, the peripheral flange segments each include extensions at the ends thereof which become interlocked when the receptacle is being formed, and that are secured alternately to the outer and inner surfaces of the adjacent flange panels.

  • Patent number: 4190191
Abstract: A sliding lid is disclosed for use on flanged trays. The lid is prepared from a blank of flexible material such as paperboard or the like and includes side panels which are folded and glued to provide slide channels for accepting the tray flange. The blanks are cut and scored to include integral guides at the leading edges of the slide channels for accepting the tray flange and friction locking means which cooperate with the sides of the tray to retain the lids in place. The lids are intended for use on ovenable trays for packaging and cooking food.

  • Patent number: 4113086
Abstract: An end loaded display carton is formed from a cut and scored blank of paperboard or the like that is preglued and shipped in a generally flat folded condition. The carton, when squared, is of essentially parallelopiped configuration with spaced front and rear walls connected by two outer side walls, and includes a central compartment for receiving a product and a header member at one end thereof. The central compartment is defined by a pair of inner side wall panels that are spaced inboard of and parallel to the outer side walls and which extend for substantially the entire length of the carton. When the carton is squared from its generally flat folded condition to its product receiving parallelopiped condition, the header member at one end thereof is automatically oriented over the central compartment portion of the carton.

  • Patent number: 4105155
Abstract: A food carton is disclosed in the general shape of a tapered tray which includes an integral overlapping top cover portion, an integral divider element and an easy opening tear strip. In its preferred form, the carton is prepared from a one piece blank of paperboard or the like with either glued or interlocked ends located between two tapered side walls. The top flaps of the carton at least partially overlap one another with one top flap having integral therewith the carton divider element and the other top flap including the tear strip opening means. Each of the side and end walls of the carton are preferably perforated with apertures or the like to enhance the flow of air around the packaged food product and preserve its freshness.
