Abstract: A method for controlling power in a communication system. In the power control method, a transmitter receives feedback information from receivers located in its own cell; determines data rates of the receivers according to the received feedback information, calculates a load of the cell by calculating an amount of data to be transmitted to the receivers; and calculates transmission power of the transmitter by comparing the load of the cell with a threshold.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for allocating resources in multi-carrier wireless telecommunication system is provided. The apparatus comprises a scheduler for configuring a multicast channel by combining sub-carriers according to a multicast preference for each sub-carrier, and controlling resource allocation according to the configured multicast channel, and a sub-carrier mapper for inputting unicast data and multicast data to be transmitted, allocating the multicast data to the sub-carriers configuring the multicast channel under the control of the scheduler, and outputting the unicast data by allocating the unicast data to sub-carriers excluding sub-carriers allocated to the multicast channel.

Abstract: A packet scheduling method using a cumulative distribution function. The scheduling method for use in a communication system including a plurality of MSs (Mobile Stations) and a central controller for assigning resources to individual MSs on the basis of a transmission rate associated with downlink channels fed back from the MSs, includes the steps of generating a uniform random variable of transmission rates of individual MSs; converting the uniform random variable into a scheduling priority; comparing the scheduling priority of each MS with each other; and assigning resources to a MS having the highest scheduling priority.
