  • Publication number: 20230311366
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a unidirectional tape with a surface polymer layer, the method comprising the steps of a) providing an impregnation slurry comprising particles of a polymer, water, optionally a surfactant, optionally an organic carrying medium, optionally organic compounds and optionally surface active compounds, and providing a pressing tool having a surface profile structure, the surface profile structure having a surface roughness Ra of 1 to 20 ?m, preferably of 2 to 10 ?m, more preferably 3 to 7 ?m, b) impregnating a unidirectional fiber layer comprising unidirectional fibers with the impregnation slurry to obtain an impregnated unidirectional fiber layer comprising the particles of the polymer, c) pressing at a surface of the impregnated unidirectional fiber layer with the surface profile structure to move at least some of the particles of the polymer within the impregnated unidirectional fiber layer onto the surface to form a surface polymer layer on the unidirect

  • Publication number: 20230278295
Abstract: The present invention concerns Method for producing a unidirectional tape, the method comprising the steps of a) providing an impregnation slurry comprising primary particles and secondary particles, water, optionally an organic carrying medium, optionally an organic compound and optionally a surface active compound, and providing a unidirectional fiber layer having an average interstitial filament distance, wherein the primary particles comprise a first polymer and the primary particles have a particle size equal to or smaller than the average interstitial filament distance, and the secondary particles comprise a second polymer and the secondary particles have a particle size larger than the average interstitial filament distance, b) impregnating the unidirectional fiber layer with the impregnation slurry to form an impregnated unidirectional fiber web comprising an impregnated unidirectional fiber layer and a surface polymer layer, wherein the impregnated unidirectional fiber layer comprises, preferably con

  • Publication number: 20100040886
Abstract: This invention relates quite in general to production of fiber composite components by infiltration of a fiber material with a synthetic resin and subsequent curing. In order to improve the required preparation of a liquid or viscous resin system, as claimed in the invention especially a synthetic resin granulate (10, 12) and a process for its production are provided, encompassing the step of stabilization of the synthetic resin granulate (10?) by adding nanoparticles (12?) which attach on the surface of the granulate particles (10). The granulate (10, 12) which is thus free of blocks can be easily handled, for example bagged, flow-conveyed and metered. Advantageously the nanoparticles do not have an adverse effect on the infiltration properties of the resin and on the component properties.
