    Abstract: An improved vacuum cleaner having a removable dirt collector inside a substantially enclosed suction compartment is provided with a conditioning pack for deodorizing and/or disinfecting the stored waste matter even when the vacuum cleaner is not in operation. The conditioning pack is mounted on a fixture inside the suction compartment but outside the waste holder of the dirt collector. This arrangement facilitates more effective deodorization and/or disinfecting and, at the same time, easy emptying of waste matter from the dirt collector.
