  • Publication number: 20250132839
Abstract: A signal processor and corresponding method compensate for phase noise in a received digital signal. The signal processor comprises a first stage of a phase noise compensator that computes a phase delay of the received digital signal and generates a partially phase-noise-compensated digital signal by applying to the received digital signal the phase delay computed. The signal processor further comprises a second stage of the phase noise compensator coupled to the first stage. The second stage computes a set of components of the partially phase-noise-compensated digital signal, determines, on a per-component basis, a respective phase distortion for components of the set of components computed, computes a set of corrected components by applying, on the per component basis, the respective phase distortion determined, and generates a further phase-noise-compensated digital signal based on the set of corrected components computed.

  • Publication number: 20250092073
Abstract: A solution is described for therapeutic materials against antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains. A series of four PPE-based water-soluble conjugated polyelectrolytes containing phosphonium side chains of varying amphiphilic balance. The study of the photophysical properties revealed the efficient formation of 102 and ROS for their use as photosensitizers for light-activated antibacterial applications. A photosensitizer absorbs light to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS), and a photodynamic therapy (PDT) is widely used, in which the photosensitizer is excited upon irradiation with light of a specific wavelength from the outside to generate active oxygen species or free radicals, thereby inducing apoptosis of various lesions or cancer cells and destroying them.

  • Patent number: 12057934
Abstract: Consistent with the present disclosure, multiple forward error correction (FEC) encoders are provided for encoding a respective one of a plurality of data streams. A mechanism is provided to mix or interleave portions of the encoded data such that each subcarrier carries information associated with each data stream, as opposed to each subcarrier carrying information associated with only a corresponding one of the data streams. As a result, both higher SNR and low SNR optical subcarriers carry such information, such that errors occurring during transmission are distributed and not concentrated or limited to information associated with a single data stream. Accordingly, at the receive end, each FEC decoder decodes information having a similar overall error rate. By balancing the error rates across each FEC encoder/decoder pair, the overall ability to correct errors improves compared to a system in which mixing or interleaving is not carried out.

  • Patent number: 11839998
Abstract: Three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical morphologies widely exist in natural and biomimetic materials, which impart preferential functions including liquid and mass transport, energy conversion, and signal transmission for various applications. While notable progress has been made in the design and manufacturing of various hierarchical materials, the state-of-the-art approaches suffer from limited materials selection, high costs, as well as low processing throughput. Herein, by harnessing the configurable elastic crack engineering-controlled formation and configuration of cracks in elastic materials, an effect normally avoided in various industrial processes, the present invention provides a facile and powerful technique to enable the faithful transfer of arbitrary hierarchical structures with broad material compatibility and structural and functional integrity.
