Publication number: 20230402804Abstract: A method and apparatus for automating one or more steps of a crimping process for crimping a crimp contact to a wire of a multi-wire cable is disclosed. Crimping wires is typically a labor-intensive process. As such, some or all of the manual steps may be automated, such as by manipulating one or more of the wires in preparation for inserting the wires into the crimping machine. In this way, the previously manually-operated machine may be less reliant or entirely non-reliant on manual labor.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2023Publication date: December 14, 2023Applicant: Frisimos, Ltd.Inventors: Tal Pechter, Hanan Ben-Ron

Patent number: 11476628Abstract: An automatic-robotic-system-for-cable assembly system and method is provided. The method and system are configured to use a cartridge which holds one or both ends of the cable. The cartridge moves along an automatic cable assembly line, with the line segmented into different stages, at which a process is performed by a specific machine. Different machines, such as actuators or modular machines, perform operations on the cartridge at the different stages. In preparation for or as part of the operations, the actuators or modular machines may directly physically apply one or more forces to a cable held by the cartridge, causing the cable to spool toward or away from the modular machines.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2020Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Frisimos, Ltd.Inventors: Tal Pechter, Hanan Ben-Ron

Publication number: 20210194226Abstract: A system and method for removing a protective shield from an electrical cable using an ablation process is disclosed. The circumference of the protective shield may not be perfectly circular. To compensate, a measurement, such as a distance measurement to a point on a surface of the electrical cable, is performed. Based on the distance measurement, the system performs a compensation operation, such as moving the lens in the laser system in order to compensate. Thereby, the focus of the laser radiation may be placed consistently at a predetermined position relative to the surface of the protective shield, thereby sufficiently ablating the protective shield without harming interior layers of the electrical cable. Further, the protective shield may be wrapped so that there is an overlap. To account for this, the protective shield on both sides of the ablated groove is held and twisted in order to shear along the groove.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2019Publication date: June 24, 2021Applicant: Frisimos, Ltd.Inventors: Hanan Ben-Ron, Tal Pechter

In preparation for or as part of the operations, the actuators or modular machines may apply one or more forces to the cartridge, causing one or more of the following to occur: moving an end of the cartridge to a modular machine, rotating an end of the cable, tipping the ends of the cable, etc. In this way, use of the cartridge enables the automatic assembly of the cables held in the cartridge.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2019Date of Patent: March 30, 2021Assignee: Frisimos, LtdInventors: Tal Pechter, Hanan Ben Ron

Patent number: 10476245Abstract: A system and method for removing a metal foil shield from electrical wires and/or cable, using ablation process, shear stress generation and video camera feedback is disclosed. The metal foil shield is removed using ablation process, shear stress generation and video camera feedback. The system includes a holder configured to hold an electrical cable, a laser configured to provide a laser radiation beam and an optical system configured to shape the laser radiation beam and concentrate the laser radiation beam on surface of the metal foil shield with power sufficient to ablate a groove on the surface of the metal shield and a gripper configured to grip a segment of the electrical cable that protrudes from the holder twist it such as to generate a shear stress in the groove and separate the segment of the electrical cable from the rest of the cable.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2015Date of Patent: November 12, 2019Assignee: Frisimos, Ltd.Inventors: Hanan Ben-Ron, Tal Pechter
