Patent number: 11968606Abstract: Cloud-based communication management is provided. Status information regarding vehicles is maintained to a non-volatile storage. A request intended to be performed by one of the vehicles is received to a cloud server over a communications network from a requesting device. Responsive to the request being performable by a mobile edge computing (MEC) device in a cell of the communications network instead of the one of the vehicles, the request is sent by the cloud server to the MEC device to be processed by the MEC device instead of being performed by the one of the vehicles.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2022Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Hanan J. Ahmed, Hassan Halabian, Erick Michael Lavoie

Patent number: 11776408Abstract: Upon report of an emergency incident, a system may dispatch one or more initial entities to respond to the incident and model an initial scene, based on the reported data. The system may further determine the availability of travel data, request available travel data and advise an entity of path feasibility. The system also determines availability of onsite data covering one or more locations associated with the incident and requests available onsite data. This data is used to update the scene model and determine additional necessary dispatches, data gathering, or both. Until additional data is determined to be no longer needed, the processor is configured to continue to: dispatch entities based on the updated scene model; determine the availability of additional onsite desired based on the updated scene model; request the new onsite data; and update the scene model based on any onsite data received responsive to any additional requests.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2021Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Hanan J Ahmed, Sena Hermiz, Erick Michael Lavoie

Patent number: 11013040Abstract: Embodiments are provided for identifying transitory WiFi users and providing a differential treatment of such users in terms of delaying associating steps between user stations (STAs) and an access point (AP). A transitory user refers to a user or user device that connects to a WiFi AP but does not run applications that require association or assigning IP addresses, such as short-term or temporary connected WiFi users that are on the move. In an embodiment, a STA connects to an AP. Upon the STA indicating its transitory behavior to the AP or the AP detecting criteria of transitory behavior of the STA, the STA obtains a delay time value from the AP. The STA then delays sending an association request to the AP, or alternatively, the AP delays handling the association request from the STA in accordance with the delay time value.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2018Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: Futurewei Technologies, Inc.Inventors: George Calcev, Hanan J Ahmed, Bin Chen, Lin Cai

Patent number: 10790692Abstract: A wireless vehicle charging system includes a first cluster of charging pads wired to one another and configured to convert electrical energy to an electromagnetic field. The system further includes a first base station in communication with the first cluster of charging pads. The first base station is programmed to receive information from an electric vehicle and transmit the information to a second base station in communication with a second cluster of charging pads in a path of the electric vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2017Date of Patent: September 29, 2020Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Hanan J. Ahmed, Scott Turik

Patent number: 10285053Abstract: A method for reducing authentication signaling in a wireless network includes identifying a plurality of access points in a network belonging to a group. An access request message is received from a first access point associated with a device being in range of the first access point. A determination is made whether the device has been authenticated within the group. A proxy accept message is sent to the to the first access point in response to the device being authenticated with the group without communicating with an authentication server for authentication of the device. A master access point may be used in performing the reduction of authentication signaling in the wireless network.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2015Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: Futurewei Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Hanan J. Ahmed, George Calcev

Publication number: 20190089807Abstract: A system includes a processor configured to detect a user device including predefined vehicle system settings. The processor is also configured to wirelessly download the vehicle system settings to a vehicle, including deletion parameters. The processor is further configured to implement the downloaded vehicle system settings and delete vehicle system settings in accordance with the deletion parameters, responsive to a deletion trigger.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2017Publication date: March 21, 2019Inventor: Hanan J. Patent number: 10194375Abstract: Network signaling loads are controlled in a wireless network by monitoring traffic patterns at an access point and determining that the access point is a high turnover access point. A high turnover access point is determined based on an average time devices spend in a coverage area of the access point being below a threshold level. Beacon and/or probe response messages are generated that identify the access point as a high turnover access point. In addition, a turnover activity value may be generated for the access point and included in the beacon and/or response messages. A mobile device may determine whether to authenticate and associate with the access point based on the turnover activity value.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2015Date of Patent: January 29, 2019Assignee: Futurewei Technologies, Inc.Inventors: George Calcev, Lin Cai, Hanan J. Patent number: 9521587Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for setting a clear channel assessment (CCA) threshold includes receiving, by a station from a first access point, a first message including an information element and determining a CCA threshold in accordance with the information element. The method also includes detecting a power level of a channel between the station and the access point to produce a first detected power level and comparing the first detected power level and the CCA threshold. Additionally, the method includes transmitting, by the station to the first access point on the channel, a second message when the detected power level is less than the CCA threshold.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2013Date of Patent: December 13, 2016Assignee: FUTUREWEI TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Lukasz Krzymien, George Calcev, Lin Cai, Hanan J.
