The motor driving apparatus includes an inverter unit including a plurality of upper switches and a plurality of lower switches and configured to output AC power to a motor by a switching operation and a processor configured to control the inverter unit to perform power generation braking by maintaining the plurality of upper switches in a full off state and maintain the plurality of lower switches in a full on state. The processor performs a current control step of complementarily switching phase currents flowing into the plurality of upper switches and the plurality of lower switches prior to the power generation braking.

    Abstract: A laundry treating apparatus include a tub, a water supply, a drum, and a rotator including a bottom portion positioned on a bottom surface of the drum, and a pillar protruding upward from the bottom portion, and a blade disposed on an outer circumferential surface of the pillar. The controller controls a driver such that the rotator performs a distribution motion after a water supply process and a washing motion after the distribution motion. An amount of rotation of the rotator in the distribution motion is less than an amount of rotation of the rotator in the washing motion. A driving load of the driver is reduced by reducing a moment of inertia acting on the rotator by separating laundry from the rotator. With the reduced driving load, the driver may be easily controlled, and a water flow for washing may be efficiently formed.

A motor driving apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an inverter for converting a DC voltage of a DC-link capacitor into an AC voltage according to a switching operation and outputting the converted AC voltage to a motor; a DC-link resistor disposed between the DC-link capacitor and the inverter; and a controller for controlling the inverter based on a phase current sampled through the DC-link resistor, wherein the controller estimates a phase current based on the phase current sampled through the DC link resistor, in an interval in which phase current detection is not possible. Thereby, the phase current flowing through the motor may be accurately calculated using the DC link resistor.
