Publication number: 20240119307Abstract: The embodiments are directed towards providing personalized federated learning (PFL) models via sharable federated basis models. A model architecture and learning algorithm for PFL models is disclosed. The embodiments learn a set of basis models, which can be combined layer by layer to form a personalized model for each client using specifically learned combination coefficients. The set of basis models are shared with each client of a set of the clients. Thus, the set of basis models is common to each client of the set of clients. However, each client may generate a unique PFL based on their specifically learned combination coefficients. The unique combination of coefficients for each client may be encoded in a separate personalized vector for each of the clients.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2023Publication date: April 11, 2024Inventors: Hong-You Chen, Boqing Gong, Mingda Zhang, Hang Qi, Xuhui Jia, Li Zhang

Patent number: 11932734Abstract: Various methods of reshaping and recycling thermoset polymers and composites containing thermoset polymers are provided. The methods involve the bond exchange reaction of exchangeable covalent bonds in the polymer matrix with a suitable small molecule solvent in the presence of a catalyst. In some aspects, the methods are applied to a carbon fiber reinforced polymer or a thermoset polymer where the thermoset polymer matrix includes a plurality of ester bonds. Using a small molecule alcohol, the methods provide for recycling one or both of the carbon fiber and the polymer, for welding two surfaces, or for repairing a damaged surface in the materials.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2022Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Georgia Tech Research CorporationInventors: Hang Qi, Kai Yu, Qian Shi, Xiao Kuang

Publication number: 20220125827Abstract: The disclosure provides application of sulfated polysaccharides in resisting novel coronavirus, belonging to the technical field of biomedicine. It is confirmed in the disclosure that by binding to an S protein on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the sea cucumber polysaccharides, fucoidans or carrageenans can prevent cell membranes of body cells from adsorbing and internalizing the SARS-CoV-2 virus, thereby preventing the SARS-CoV-2 virus from infecting the body cells, which indicates that the sea cucumber polysaccharides, fucoidans or carrageenans have the effect of prevention and treatment of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus. These polysaccharides can be used to prepare protective articles having functions of prevention and treatment of novel coronavirus infection, for example: inhalations, hand lotions, oral liquids and respirators.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 4, 2022Publication date: April 28, 2022Inventors: Beiwei ZHU, Shuang SONG, Xiuping DONG, Chengrong WEN, Chunqing AI, Dayong ZHOU, Hang QI, Libo QI, Dongmei LI, Jingfeng YANG

Patent number: 10068247Abstract: Described herein are techniques and systems for online ad campaign pacing. The techniques described herein use budget allocation along with the estimations of bids and response rates. With use of budget allocation, the techniques can use budget pacing to enhance impressions and maximize desired responses, such as desired click-through rates. These techniques focus on enhancing pacing and performance of ad campaigns, such as enhancing performance across distinct and/or unified online ad marketplaces. These techniques are especially useful in the context of a demand-side platform (DSP). In some examples, the techniques assume that impression supply is much larger than advertiser demand for impressions of their ads, so such techniques focus on selecting high performing inventory of ad space. Yet, with such a focus, a smooth or consistent delivery of ads over time is used.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2014Date of Patent: September 4, 2018Assignee: Excalibur IP, LLCInventors: Jian Xu, Kuang-chih Lee, Wentong Li, Hang Qi, Quan Lu

Publication number: 20080260617Abstract: Few-walled carbon nanotubes (FWNTs) can be synthesized in a simple chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system using a mixture of methanol and ethanol as the carbon source. In preferred embodiments, the present invention uses an ethanol/methanol mixture as the carbon source so that few walled nanotubes (FWNTs) with high purity can be prepared following a simplified purification process. Under the growth conditions of the present invention, ethanol is believed to act as the carbon source while methanol is believed to act as a “carbonaceous impurity remover” to remove the impurities deposited on a support (e.g., MgO) and thereby hinder the formation of such impurities.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2007Publication date: October 23, 2008Inventors: Jie LIU, Cheng Qian, Hang Qi
