  • Patent number: 8917384
Abstract: A portable optical sensor for measuring surface strain in an object, such as pre-stressed concrete articles, is provided. The sensor is a modular device comprising at least first and second modules, each of which includes a laser and image sensor. When placed adjacent to the object, the laser of each module illuminates respective, spaced-apart areas of the object's surface and each module's image sensor captures at least a portion of the light reflected from the illuminated area and generates a speckle image of the area. Speckle images of the areas taken at various times and/or under various object stress conditions are compared to arrive at a surface strain measurement for the object.

  • Publication number: 20130022331
Abstract: A television having program recording and playback functions includes a screen, a storage unit, a sensor and a processor. The television determines whether the person is absent in front of the screen during displaying the television program and, if so, records the television program and corresponding channel information, and then determines whether a person is present in front of the screen again after the person is absent in front of the screen and, if so, controls the screen to display a menu. The television reads the recorded channel information to tune to a corresponding channel when a first option of the menu is selected, and reads the recorded television program to display the recorded television program by the screen when a second option of the menu is selected.

  • Publication number: 20120293331
Abstract: A display device having a watch-time reminding function includes an input unit, a display unit, a sound output unit and a control unit. A user can use the input unit to set a health watch time or turn on or off the watch-time reminding function. After the watch-time reminding function is turned on, the control unit counts a current watch time and compares the current watch time with the health watch time. When the current watch time reaches the health watch time, the control unit judges that the user spends too much time watching the display device. Accordingly, the control unit controls the display unit to display a reminding image and controls the sound output unit to output a reminding sound so as to remind the user to take a rest or do eye exercise to prevent nearsightedness.

  • Patent number: 6842670
Abstract: This invention relates to an eye-tracking driving system, especially to an eye-tracking system controlled by the user's eye. It not only utilizes the unique eye-controlled method, but also avoids contacting with the user's eyes or skin. It is suitable for the disabled persons or the elderly so that they can drive a powered vehicle easily. The system mainly includes a display device, an eye-tracking device, a calculating device, a controller and a powered vehicle. This system can effectively capture the image around the user's eye and then precisely determine the pupil center. Based on the position of the pupil center, the power vehicle can be controlled.
