  • Publication number: 20190343272
Abstract: A height-adjustable workstation includes a worksurface and a worksurface actuator for supporting the worksurface above a floor surface. The worksurface actuator is operable to raise and lower the worksurface relative to the floor surface. A display support apparatus secured to the worksurface includes a display support actuator and a display mount. The display support actuator is operable to move the display mount relative to the worksurface between a neutral position and an offset position. The display support actuator is configured to move the display support to the offset position in response to the worksurface being raised above a pre-determined height relative to the floor surface, and to move the display support to the neutral position in response to the worksurface being lowered below the pre-determined height. The height-adjustable workstation may optionally include an output-adjusting task light.

  • Patent number: 9820565
Abstract: A height-adjustable table includes a frame supporting a work surface; a pair of lower legs supporting the frame; a pulley mechanism coupling the frame and the lower legs for vertically moving the frame relative to the lower legs; and a spring located within a passage extending through the frame. The spring has a fixed end secured to the frame and a movable end movable relative to the frame over a first distance for exerting a force over the first distance. The table further includes a block-and-tackle assembly located within the passage. The block-and-tackle assembly couples the movable end of the spring to the pulley mechanism for transferring the force exerted by the spring over the first distance to vertical movement of the frame relative to the lower legs over a second distance greater than the first distance.

  • Patent number: 9510670
Abstract: A height-adjustable table can include a frame supporting a work surface; a pair of lower legs supporting the frame; a pulley mechanism coupling the frame and the pair of lower legs for vertically moving the frame relative to the pair of lower legs; and a spring located within a passage extending through the frame. The spring may have a fixed end secured to the frame and a movable end movable relative to the frame over a first distance for exerting a force over the first distance. The table can have a block-and-tackle assembly located within the passage and coupling the movable end of the spring to the pulley mechanism. The block-and-tackle assembly can transfer the force exerted by the spring over the first distance to vertical movement of the frame relative to the pair of lower legs over a second distance greater than the first distance.

  • Publication number: 20150320198
Abstract: An apparatus for a height-adjustable table is described. The apparatus can include a frame for supporting a work surface; a pair of lower legs supporting the frame; a pulley mechanism coupling the frame and the pair of lower legs for vertically moving the frame relative to the pair of lower legs; and a spring located within a passage extending through the frame. The spring may have a fixed end secured to the frame and a movable end movable relative to the frame over a first distance for exerting a force over the first distance. The apparatus can have a block-and-tackle assembly located within the passage. The block-and-tackle assembly can couple the movable end of the spring to the pulley mechanism. The block-and-tackle assembly can transfer the force exerted by the spring over the first distance to vertical movement of the frame relative to the pair of lower legs over a second distance, where the second distance is greater than the first distance.

  • Patent number: 5992810
Abstract: A height adjustable keyboard support for attachment to and support from a work surface comprising two mounting brackets for attachment to a work surface. A rigid subassembly has a pair of horizontally spaced pivotting support arms rigidly connected at one end thereof by an intermediate member such that said support arms maintain the relationship therebetween. The subassembly is pivotally secured to the work surface by mounting brackets. A tiltable keyboard mounting arrangement is located generally between the support arms and is controlled by a linkage. An adjustable in length link extends between the subassembly and one of the mounting brackets and maintains the subassembly in a desired position and allows adjustment of said position by adjusting the length of the adjustable link. The link can have one end thereof secured in a slot with gravity biasing the link to one end of the slot. The slot allows the keyboard support to move upwardly if required to avoid pinning of an operator's legs therebeneath.

  • Patent number: 5706739
Abstract: A height adjustable workstation uses a torsion spring in association with a transmission for providing a counterbalance force opposing downward forces applied to the work surface. The workstation has telescoping legs and the telescopic movement thereof is transmitted through the transmission system to the torsion spring. The torsion spring is loaded and applies the counterbalance force to the legs via the transmission. The system includes a hand engaging adjustment mechanism for varying the magnitude of the counterbalance force and also includes a lock arrangement for locking the workstation at various selected positions. The preferred transmission system includes a rack and pinion gear arrangement connected to the torsion spring by a shaft.
