  • Patent number: 8537688
Abstract: The invention discloses a method (1100) for a cellular wireless access TDD system (100) with a base stations (120, 220) for respective cells (110, 210) in the system, where each cell can accommodate at least a first user terminal (130, 230). The user terminals can receive traffic from their base stations during a down link period, and can transmit traffic to their base stations (120, 220) during an up link period (UL). There is a first guard period (TDu) at the transition from down link to up link, and a second guard period (TUD) at the transition from up link to down link. • Publication number: 20130136091
Abstract: For efficiently handling network traffic via a fixed access, classification of UL data traffic in a communication device (100) may be accomplished in a reflective mode by detecting identifiers of outgoing uplink data packets which are complementary to identifiers of incoming downlink data packets. The downlink data packets are already assigned to the traffic classes (50). The outgoing uplink data packets carrying the complementary identifier are assigned to the same traffic class (50) as the incoming downlink data packets. For this purpose, the communication device (100) is provided with a traffic classificator (110). In the reflective mode, the traffic classificator (110) locally generates uplink packet classification rules (115) by monitoring received downlink data packets.

  • Patent number: 8412160
Abstract: The technology described relates to management of data packets and buffers comprising segments of data packets in a mobile communication system. Information associated with data packet segments is analyzed by a Base Station System (BSS) housing a data buffer. Based on this information analysis, the BSS can identify those segments in the buffer that constitute a complete data packet. Once identified, the segments can be discarded from the buffer. The information can include size information, whereby the analysis comprises pairwise comparing the size of a current segment with the size of a next consecutive segment. This size comparison enables identification of a first segment and a last segment of the complete data packet. The information could also, or alternatively, include a notification provided in the header of the segment. This notification identifies the associated segment as the first or last segment of the data packet or an intermediate segment.

  • Publication number: 20120275367
Abstract: In a mobile communication network, data traffic of a certain quality of service class is forwarded in accordance with a traffic forwarding policy associated with this quality of service class, e.g. by establishing dedicated bearers (52, 54). For implementing energy control, an energy control attribute is assigned to the quality of service class. On the basis of the energy control attribute, a data throughput for forwarding the data traffic is limited to a maximum limit. This may be accomplished by using a throughput limiter (150, 250) in one or more nodes (100, 110, 120, 200) participating in the transport of the data traffic.

  • Patent number: 8200236
Abstract: The invention aims to reduce the delay associated with setting up a session for a user terminal in a mobile communication network. A control unit for use in a wireless communication network for controlling a user terminal's ability to communicate with the network, comprising—at least one input for receiving event information about at least one trigger event indicating that the user terminal is likely to wish to communicate with the network within a predetermined period of time—decision logic for deciding whether the state of the terminal should be changed to enable it to communicate and—output means for triggering the a state change for the terminal to a state in which the terminal is able to communicate with the network, if the decision logic decides that this should be done.

  • Patent number: 8200838
Abstract: A method of controlling the flow of an amount of data from a sending peer to a receiving peer of a predetermined communication protocol is described. The method comprises dividing the amount of data into a plurality of data segments, where the data segments are ordered in a sequence. The segments are sent to the receiving peer in the order of said sequence. The receiving peer acknowledges the correct receipt of a data segment and identifies the last correctly received data segment of the sequence that was received in the proper order of the sequence. The sending peer is arranged such that if it receives a threshold number of duplicate acknowledgements, it performs a retransmission. The threshold number that trigger a retransmission is an adaptive parameter determined based on the size of a receive window, the size of the receive window representing a number of data segments which can be stored in a buffer space at the receiving peer.

  • Publication number: 20120134264
Abstract: In a mobile communication environment, the data traffic is mapped to a number of bearers (52, 54). In a downlink direction, this is accomplished by filtering data packets on the basis of an identifier which is included into the data packets in response to packet inspection. In the uplink direction, a mirroring function is applied which detects incoming data packets, which are received on one of a plurality of bearers (52, 54) and have a first identifier, and outgoing data packets having a second identifier which is complementary to the first identifier. The outgoing data packets having the complementary second identifier are routed to the same bearer (52, 54) from which the incoming data packets are received.

  • Patent number: 8041837
Abstract: A method for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network is proposed. The packet bearer (PB) transmits the data packet to a communication entity in the communication network. The communication network comprises at least one control entity to exchange signaling information with the user equipment. The user equipment comprises at least one executing unit for executing one or more applications which create the data packet, a packet marking entity for marking at least one control field in the data packet and a transmission unit for sending the data packet on the packet bearer. After setting up the packet bearer between the transmission unit and the communication entity, a first signaling of filter parameters for defining a packet filter is received by the user equipment. The filter parameters correspond to a packet marking.

  • Publication number: 20100136989
Abstract: The present invention relates to radio communication in a cellular network and in particular to the sharing of a frequency spectrum with another network. The object is to enable robust communication in the shared band. The solution is to allocate a third band for communication in a cell. A L1/L2 control channel may be transmitted in the third band only, whereas data can be transmitted in the shared band. The L1/L2 control channel support the data communication in the shared band. The invention relates to a method and a radio base station.
