Patent number: 12366296Abstract: In order to flush away local bleeding during surgery with a medical instrument, the instruments are commonly provided with a flushing device. In order to be able to control an inflow and outflow of a flushing liquid, the instruments have a stopcock. In order to achieve the sealing action of the stopcock, the plugs of the stopcock have to be formed with a very high degree of precision. The known production processes for such plugs are very cumbersome and cost-intensive. This provides a plug for a stopcock and a stopcock and a method for producing a plug, by way of which the stated problem is eliminated. This is achieved in that a plug, with a grip part and a cone part, is formed in one part and can be produced in a single process step.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2022Date of Patent: July 22, 2025Assignee: OLYMPUS WINTER & IBE GMBHInventor: Hannes Miersch

Publication number: 20240315721Abstract: A handheld surgical instrument that can be cleaned in a particularly simple, thorough and time-efficient manner. This is achieved by the fact that the instrument has at least one first component and at least one second component. The first component can be, for example, a cap, a cover or the like. The second component can be designed as a connection, connection body, optical guide plate or the like. The two components are movable relative to each other and can be coupled to each other by screwing or the like. A structural element made from a shape-memory material is arranged between these two components. This shape-memory material makes it possible to achieve a temperature-dependent relative arrangement of the two components.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 16, 2024Publication date: September 26, 2024Applicant: OLYMPUS WINTER & IBE GMBHInventors: Henning SCHWEINBERGER, Hannes MIERSCH

Patent number: 12007036Abstract: A medical endoscope is an instrument having an elongate, tubular shaft. The instrument is commonly provided with a flushing device. The flushing liquid can be guided through corresponding separate liquid channels. In order to be able to control the flow of the liquid, the liquid channels have a stopcock. The stopcocks here are of complex construction, and for this reason both the production thereof and the cleaning thereof are complicated. The invention includes a stopcock and also a housing and a method for producing the housing, by way of which the production and the cleaning of the housing are simplified. This is achieved in that a housing and at least one spring element for form-fitting fixing of a plug in a position in the interior space of the housing are manufactured integrally from a single part, that is to say in one part.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2022Date of Patent: June 11, 2024Assignee: OLYMPUS WINTER & IBE GMBHInventor: Hannes Miersch

Publication number: 20220313348Abstract: Electrosurgical handheld devices are used mainly for endoscopic applications in urology or in gynaecology. However, the field of use of these instruments is not limited to these regions of the human body and instead also includes the treatment of further organs in the lower part of the human abdomen. The invention makes available an electrosurgical handheld device and also a handle, a main body and an adapter, which are particularly easy and cost-effective to produce and which at the same time ensure a laminar flow of the irrigation liquid at the distal end of the handheld device. This is achieved by the fact that a feedthrough extending through a handle is funnel-shaped, wherein a cross section of the feedthrough tapers from a distal side to a proximal side of the handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2022Publication date: October 6, 2022Applicant: Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbHInventors: Christoph KNOPF, Hannes MIERSCH, Christian BROCKMANN, Andreas OFFT

RESECTOSCOPE, ELECTRODE INSTRUMENT FOR A RESECTOSCOPE, AND GUIDE ELEMENT FOR AN ELECTRODE INSTRUMENT
Publication number: 20220257307Abstract: A surgical radiofrequency instruments such as resectoscopes, for example, are used for removing or manipulating body tissue. A particular disadvantage of known instruments has been that the arrangement of an electrode instrument in an inner shaft can influence a flow behavior of an irrigation liquid. The invention makes available an electrode instrument by which the irrigation liquid is not disturbed. This is achieved by the fact that an electrode instrument has two electrode carriers which are arranged parallel to each other and are connected to each other by at least one guide element, and this at least one guide element extends, at least in part, convexly away from a longitudinal axis.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2022Publication date: August 18, 2022Applicant: Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbHInventors: Christian BROCKMANN, Christoph KNOPF, Andreas OFFT, Hannes MIERSCH -
