  • Patent number: 8207828
Abstract: A system and related methods for dynamically re-configuring a radio frequency identification tag reader, engaging software business processes, or combinations of both, using a radio-frequency-readable configuration tag which physically associated with one or more RFID-tagged articles in a physical handling flow. The configuration tag reader is positioned prior to a radio frequency identification tag reader in said material handling flow, which allows the configuration reader to read the contents of the configuration tags before the articles reach the identification tag reader.

  • Publication number: 20090259579
Abstract: A system and a method for transferring monetary value between first and second currency documents are provided. The method includes reading a first RFID tag on the first currency document to obtain a first monetary value stored in the first RFID tag, utilizing a first RFID scanning device. The method further includes selecting a transfer value that is less than or equal to the first monetary value, utilizing a first computer. The first computer operably communicates with the first RFID scanning device. The method further includes sending the transfer value from the first computer to a second computer. The method further includes reading a second RFID tag on the second currency document to obtain a second monetary value stored in the second RFID tag, utilizing a second RFID scanning device. The second RFID scanning device operably communicates with the second computer.

  • Publication number: 20080132187
Abstract: A multi-media playing device is provided which enables personal, user-defined programming by allowing a user to select, store and retrieve media programming according to the user's personal preferences. In an exemplary embodiment, an audio playing device enables a user to define, select and refine channels by categories, such as “sports”, “news” and “music”, inter alia. A favorites list or playlist is created by a content server and used to provide a listing for types of audio programs in an order of preference of the user. The audio device enables user personal feedback on actual audio program presentations and the feedback is, in turn, selectively used to automatically update the user's favorites listing of audio information programming preferences. The user is enabled to input commands to the multi-media playing device, both manually or verbally, to change audio or video presentations in an order of user priority as presented on the automatically updated favorites listing.
