  • Patent number: 4293680
Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a process for the production of diisocyanate mixtures of 2,4-diisocyanato toluene and 2,6-diisocyanato toluene, having from 36 to 90% by weight, based on the total mixture, of 2,6-diisocyanato toluene, comprising: trimerizing some of the isocyanate groups of a diisocyanate mixture of 2,4-diisocyanato toluene and 2,6-diisocyanato toluene, having a maximum content of 2,6-diisocyanato toluene of 35% by weight based on the total mixture and isolating from the reaction mixture which is thus obtained, a diisocyanate mixture having an increased content of 2,6-diisocyanato toluene. The invention is also directed to the use of these mixtures as synthesis components in the production of polyurethane elastomers.
