  • Patent number: 8989787
Abstract: A method includes transferring data between a mobile station for communicating over a mobile communications network and a server in the Internet having a connection to the mobile communications network. The transfer of data includes providing at least a portion of a page on the Internet in the form of code, the code including a telephone number of the mobile station as hidden information, receiving the code in the mobile station in a first user message where the first user message is a short message service message, and interpreting the code in the mobile station to cause the mobile station to display information corresponding to the page on the Internet on the mobile station, wherein the information to be displayed on the mobile station does not include the hidden information.

  • Patent number: 8909691
Abstract: A method for providing a content service to a subscriber terminal (MS) from a first server, i.e. content server (CS). The provision of the content service from the content server to the subscriber terminal is controlled by a second server, i.e. proxy (CBP). The control comprises the following steps: 1) determining (5-4 to 5-10, 706) a billing address for the content service by means of the proxy (CBP); 2) under the control of the content billing proxy, providing (5-48) a content service corresponding to a service request from the content server (CS) to the subscriber terminal (MS); and 3) generating (5-46) billing information (CDR) related to the content service.

  • Publication number: 20080168180
Abstract: A problem with known data transmission networks is that the connection of the terminal equipment to the data transmission network is not flexible. The user must himself actively perform the choice and connection of access as well as it registration with the network nodal point. The invention concerns a method and an arrangement for routing a data transmission connection between terminal equipment and a host over a data transmission network, which network includes at least two access points for connecting the terminal equipment to the data transmission network. The method is characterized in that a least one criterion is established for the choice of access point, the access points are estimated according to said criteria, at least one access point meeting the criteria is chosen, and the data transmission traffic is connected through the chosen at least one access point.

The user must himself actively perform the choice and connection of access as well as its registration with the network nodal point. The invention concerns a method and an arrangement for routing a data transmission connection between terminal equipment (TE) and a host over a data transmission network, which network includes at least two access points (R1, R2, R3) for connecting the terminal equipment to the data transmission network. The method is characterized in that at least one criterion is established for the choice of access point, the access points are estimated according to said criteria, at least one access point meeting the criteria is chosen, and the data transmission traffic is connected through the chosen at least one access point.

  • Patent number: 6603738
Abstract: General Packet Radio Service is a new service designed for digital mobile systems. Because of bottlenecks, such as an air interface (Um), queues may be formed in routers. Long transmissions of data may slow the operation of interactive applications so that it is no longer sensible to use the applications. In the routers, separate queues are formed for each service, quality of service, connection, subscriber and/or application/application class. Quality of service can be indicated by providing each packet with an identity indicating the quality, or a change in the quality can be signalled as separate messages. The amount of data sent from a queue at one go may be controlled primarily based on quality of service of the subscriber. When packets are sent from a queue, it is monitored whether only a small number of packets remains in the queue, and if so, these packets are sent as well.

  • Patent number: 6243579
Abstract: In a packet radio network, a mobile station (MS) has an active state and a standby state. In the active state, the mobile station performs data transmission and updates its location more often than in the standby state. The mobile station changes from the active state to the standby state if there is no data transmission during a predetermined period. The packet radio network (SGSN) may also direct, if required, the mobile station (MS) from the active state to the standby state. The mobile station (MS) transmits to the packet radio network a short pseudo data packet either before the timer expires or in response to a command transmitted by the packet network to change the state (GO STANDBY) when the mobile station wants to stay in the active state.

  • Patent number: 6188909
Abstract: The present invention relates to a communicator (1) having means for displaying and processing an information card containing information, and means for transmitting the information on the information card using radio communication, the transmission including an information card identifier and a destination identifier. The information on the information card is processed into characters, and a short message (103, 104) is formed of said characters, to be transmitted using radio communication, and sent to a receiver through a short message service center (SM-SC).
