  • Publication number: 20060272786
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and an apparatus for removing gas from comminuted lignocellulose material, wherein material is heated with steam to a degasification temperature and the heated material flow is led as a dense composed bed through a gas removal stage. The material is heated by introducing a steam flow into the material flow in transversal direction with respect to the direction of the material flow.

  • Patent number: 6907995
Abstract: A chip screening method and plant wherein the pin chips (9) are separated from the rest of the chips and dosed among chips that are to be led to a subsequent process (7) so that the share of the pin chips (9) relative to the total amount of chips (7) does not exceed a desired value. After the screening process, a desired amount of pin chips (20) is dosed among the chips that are to be led to a subsequent process (7) without intermediate storage.

  • Publication number: 20020175113
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for the sorting of chips (3). The chips, which have kinetic energy, are separated from each other on the basis of the form or the length of their flight curve which depends on their air resistance. The kinetic energy of the chips is generated by a mechanical ejecting device (6) ejecting the chips or by means of a fan conveyor or by means of the wings of a blowing chipper.

  • Patent number: 5975169
Abstract: A method and a feeding chute for feeding logs (10) into a disc chipper by means of the gravity. The logs (10) are supported laterally by means of adjacent bottom portions (31, 32) of the chute (3) and shoulders between those. The logs are turned parallel with the longitudinal direction of the chute by means of a moment (M) which occurs when the direction of the main axis (27) of the ellipse forming the shearing surface of the log deviates from the direction (27') perpendicular to a the direct line (30) drawn via the rotating center (28) of the blade disc and the center (29) of the ellipse. The bottom portions (31, 32) of the chute are inclined around a longitudinal axis in such a way that from two adjacent bottom portions of the chute, the one (31) further away from the rotating axis of the disc forms a bigger angle (.beta.') with respect to the horizontal plane than the angle (.beta.") formed by the portion (32) closer to the rotating axis.

  • Patent number: 5765452
Abstract: A method for improving the endurance of a blade base (6) of the disc (1) of a disc chipper, a blade base and a disc chipper. A wearing plate (10) is attached to the surface (18) of the blade base facing towards the chip opening (7), the wearing surface (10) of which is shot peened.

  • Patent number: 5373876
Abstract: A chipping control device (9) to be mounted on a disc chipper and a disc chipper for keeping the piece size of the chips (8) removed from the wood (1) with a chipper blade (6) uniform. The chipping control device (9) is mounted on the outer surface of the blade disc (4) on the opposite side of the blade (6) such that the control device (9), when using the chipper, contacts the chips (7, 8) leaving the chipping opening (13).
