  • Publication number: 20140185133
Abstract: A variable transmission medium having a plurality of patterned surfaces disposed on light-transmissive material and separated by an inter-surface gap enabling regulation of light transmission by a change in angle of incident or viewing.

  • Publication number: 20140047783
Abstract: A window with modifiable transparency, the window including window panes that define at least one cavity in between the panes. The window also including one or more mechanisms for introducing and removing a transparency modifying fluid into and from said one or more cavity.

  • Publication number: 20120080080
Abstract: A window with variable transparency to light, the window includes at least two layers, the layers being arranged parallel to one another. Each layer includes a pattern of a plurality of alternating transparent and nontransparent areas. At least one of the layers is movable back and forth in one direction so as to vary the transparency of the window.

  • Patent number: 6113255
Abstract: An illuminator system for the interior of buildings provides natural sunlight illumination. The system comprises a sunlight collector mounted on the building's roof, such as a large condenser lens or a reflector, to focus the sunlight at a focal point. A transparent end plate, at the focal point, transmits the condensed sunlight to the exterior end of a thin and flexible optical conductor, such as a polymer core fiber optic cable. The conductor extends through the roof to an exterior room and terminates in a light dispersing illuminator which illuminates the room.

  • Patent number: 5345315
Abstract: A hard copy reproduction is formed of a video image which is an accurate reproduction of the tonal luminance differences and color of the video image. A gray scale and color test image is formed on the video monitor screen and measured using a photometer. The gray scale and color test image is reproduced on hard copy and may be measured using a densitometer. The two sets of measurements are entered into a computer system and used to adjust, on a pixel-by-pixel basis, the electronic controls of the hard color reproduction system to compensate for any deviations from accurate reproduction.

  • Patent number: 5115229
Abstract: A system and method for the accurate reproduction of the tone and luminance of a first video monitor screen includes, in one embodiment, a first video monitor and a second video monitor, each with a CRT screen. A gray scale test pattern is shown on both screens. The test pattern on each screen is measured using a spot photometer and the results are entered into a computer memory look-up table and compared, a tone-by-tone basis. A set of corrections is obtained for each tone of the gray scale. Those compensating corrections are used to adjust the luminance, on a pixel-by-pixel basis, of the second video screen of the second video monitor, so that the second screen is compensated to produce a gray scale which reproduces the tone and luminance values of the gray scale on the first screen.

  • Patent number: 4939581
Abstract: A system and method for the accurate reproduction of the gray scale of a video monitor screen includes, in one embodiment, a video monitor and an electronic camera having an internal video receiver with a CRT screen. A gray scale test pattern is displayed on the video monitor screen and measured using a photometer. A gray scale test pattern is also displayed on the electronic camera CRT screen, and the electronic camera test pattern is photographed using film. The test pattern on the developed film is measured using a photoelectric densitometer and the results are entered into a computer memory look-up table and compared, by a tone-by-tone basis, with the ideal luminance value for each tone based on the photometer measurements. A set of corrections is obtained for each tone based on the photometer measurements of the gray scale and corrected to all tones available in the system.
