Abstract: An apparatus and a method for speech enhancement, the method includes the steps of: (i) receiving a noisy input signal; (ii) determining whether a likelihood of an existence of a speech signal in the noisy input signal exceeds a first threshold; (iii) generating an estimated noise signal, if the likelihood is below the first threshold; (iv) generating an estimated speech signal by parametric subtraction, if the likelihood exceeds a threshold; and (v) determining a relationship between the estimated noise signal and the estimated speech signal and modifying the estimated speech signal in response to the determination.
