  • Patent number: 7154642
Abstract: A digital picture frame device is provided with image acquisition capabilities. The digital picture frame device may include a display device mounted on a hinged lid. An image acquisition device may be located beneath the hinged lid. The image acquisition device may, for example, be a line scanner in which successive scan line images of an object are obtained as the scan head moves in relation to the object being scanned. Alternatively, the image acquisition device may be a two dimensional image acquisition device. In this manner, an image of a desired object can be acquired and displayed on the digital picture frame device without the need for a separate image acquisition device. Alternatively, the digital picture frame device may be provided without a hinged lid. In this case, an object to be scanned may be fed into the digital picture frame device through a slot. A drive mechanism, e.g.

  • Patent number: 6989916
Abstract: A photoelectric scanner screen device wherein the object to be scanned is illuminated by light from an external light source such as a CRT of a monitor associated with a desktop computer. A scanner screen component of the device is mechanically associated with the monitor. The scanner screen component is comprised of layers of translucent material such that a document to be scanned can be positioned between a lid layer and a platen layer while the scanner screen's photodetectors are positioned between the platen layer and a rear layer. An external computer, to which the CRT is attached, will carry out the processing required for imaging the object to be scanned.

  • Publication number: 20030067439
Abstract: A form management device has a base unit and a detachable clipboard. Within the base unit is an imaging system and a network communication interface. Providing communication between the base unit and the clipboard are a pair of mating communication interfaces, one in the base unit and the other in the detachable clipboard. The clipboard has a display where documents are viewed, fields are inserted into documents, and data is input to the fields. The documents and field data are stored on an information storage device.

  • Publication number: 20020176015
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for displaying an image wherein the apparatus includes an image transducer for capturing image data from an incoherent wireless electromagnetic transmission, which transmission may be in the form of visible light, a memory for storing captured image data, and a projection system for projecting an image derived from stored captured image data onto a viewing surface separate from the apparatus and disposed so as to reflect the projected derived visible image. The transducer, memory, and projector are preferably confined within a single portable enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20020140996
Abstract: A scanner performs an initial calibration for lamp intensity before scanning, and a final calibration for lamp intensity after scanning. At least some compensation is performed after scanning is completed, using calibration values computed by interpolating between the initial calibration values and the final calibration values. As a result, the overall time is reduced substantially, because scanning can start without waiting for the lamp to stabilize. Linear interpolation may be used, or an additional calibration strip along the side of the image being scanned may provide calibration data for non-linear interpolation.
