    Abstract: The rack is constructed of rack elements having square fuel assembly cluster-receiving tubes which are fastened to bed plates at a small distance. These bed plates are so small that they can be transported after assembly with the receiving tubes. By connecting adjacent bed plates at a fixed height in joint-fashion and by mutual bracing of the upper ends of the receiving tubes, the narrow and high rack elements are prevented from tipping over in the event of an earthquake.
