    Abstract: A regulator has a main valve connected between a first terminal of a d-c source and a first terminal of a load. A first series circuit poled similarly to the main valve and including a commutating valve in series with a commutating capacitor is connected in parallel with the main valve. Another series circuit including the commutating valve, a reversing valve and a reversing choke is connected in parallel with the main valve and conducts current in the same direction. A swingback valve is connected in parallel with the reversing valve and poled oppositely.
