  • Patent number: 4506615
Abstract: For attaching a ready-made piece of material, for avoiding open selvedges on the finished article of clothing, initially an insert (E) is joined to an outer and a lower layer of material (01,02) and presewn by a seam (2). Material (01) is then folded upwards and the other material (02) downwards. Simultaneously, an adhesive thread (A, B) is supplied to each of the folded selvedges (20), the two folds then being fixed by means of pressure and heat. The ready-made piece of material is now turned and stitched by a seam (3). The selvedge of a further piece of material (H) is now inserted between the fixed folds and is fastened by a seam (5). This simplifies and accelerates attachment and in addition sewing cotton is saved. This production procedure can be used in the laundry and clothes production industries.

  • Patent number: 4225377
Abstract: A stiffening agent is applied in liquid form to the fabric by screen printing. Thereafter the fabric is dried and further treated. The agent is contained above the screen in a sealed container. Means are provided for varying the pressure in the container to thereby vary the flow of the agent through the screen. The container can be compartmentized to provide different flow rates at different locations of the screen. Also, instead of a stiffening agent, there can be printed a dye in a like manner. The dye and stiffening agent can also be printed together in a mixture.

  • Patent number: 4148604
Abstract: The material is located at one side of the screen of a screen printing stencil, the other side of which has the reinforcing substance, for example curable plastic material, applied, uniformly distributed over the screen. To apply the substance to the material, the screen is located at the end of a closed pressure vessel into which the reinforcing substance is introduced and to which, further, controlled pneumatic pressure is applied when printing is desired, to flow the reinforcing substance through the openings of the screen, and bulge the screen outwardly, for example into contact with the material to be reinforced. After application of the material, the pressure is released, permitting the screen to return to normal position and spaced from the material.
