  • Patent number: 4456426
Abstract: To avoid torsional stress on a foundation crossbeam and undue movement of a bearing housing at the mounting point, it is proposed, in order to displace the fixed point of the stationary parts of a turbine, that the turbine housing be connected rigidly in an axial direction to the foundation crossbeam by a retaining device via a supporting rib and a sway brace. Further the turbine housing is mounted on the bearing housing via a mounting lug resting axially movably on a bearing face.

  • Patent number: 4388004
Abstract: There is disclosed a combined thrust and support bearing arrangement wherein the shaft line can be constructed to be relatively short and wherein there does not arise any lifting of the turbine housing. The support or journal bearing and the thrust bearing are arranged in a respective bearing support within a common housing. Holders or holder elements are arranged at the bearing support of the support bearing over its circumference. These holder elements piercingly extend without contact through the bearing support of the thrust bearing. A common oil supply is provided for the thrust bearing and the support or journal bearing.

  • Patent number: 4270814
Abstract: A thrust bearing for a shaft is disclosed including a shaft thrust collar arranged in steps. The stepped construction features an inside bearing surface and an outside bearing surface axially offset from the inside bearing surface. In the bearing body for each bearing surface, spring supported bearing units are provided. Each bearing unit consists of a bearing segment, a knuckle washer, and a flexible supporting bridge connected with each other by a connecting pin. Separate oil delivery and discharge passages are also provided for each bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 4236425
Abstract: A balancing arrangement for rotating machinery has a pressure lock permitting access to the rotor without disturbing a pressurized rotor housing. The pressure lock is carried on a cover of the housing by threads which permit an inward movement of the pressure lock. A sealing cover which is provided on the pressure lock isolates the housing from the atmosphere when the rotor operates. A safety hood protects the pressure lock during operation of the machinery. Balancing of the rotor is accomplished by moving the lock against the rotor and removing the sealing cover, thereby permitting access to balancing weights in the rotor.

  • Patent number: 3980357
Abstract: An internal oil connection assembly for use with the bearing blocks of rotating machines is provided with a connector housing adapted to cooperate with replaceable modular inserts. Connections for oil inlet measuring means, oil outlet means and removable oil diaphragm means are provided and modular inserts including an insert for scavenging the oil assembly may be replaceably connected to the housing.
