    Abstract: A spunbond fleece is made by passing cellulosic filaments from a spinneret in a travel direction through a cooling chamber having upstream and downstream compartments spaced apart in the travel direction. In each of the compartments a respective stream of cooling air is directed against the filaments. The cooling air of each stream has parameters of temperature, humidity, and flow rate. At least one of the parameters of one of the streams is varied such that it is different from corresponding parameter of the other stream.
