Patent number: 11297061Abstract: The embodiments herein relate to a method in a mobility management node (108) for handling overload in a communications network (100). When overload in the communications network (100) has been detected, the mobility management node (108) receives information indicating at least one blocked IP address to which access should be blocked. The mobility management node (108) receives a communication request message from a UE (101) via a RAN node (105). The communication request message is a request for communication by the UE (101). The mobility management node (108) determines that the UE's (101) request for communication should be rejected when the UE (101) is associated with a blocked IP address.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2020Date of Patent: April 5, 2022Assignee: TELEPONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Hans Bertil Rönneke, Peter Hedman, Shabnam Sultana

Patent number: 10805830Abstract: Various embodiments described herein aim to ensure that user data transmissions (e.g., small data transmissions that are sent using control plane messages) do not become excessive and stay infrequent, thereby reducing the likelihood of a network overload situation. In one embodiment, an admission control function (ACF) for regulating the transmission of uplink user data is implemented in a wireless communication device (WCD) (e.g., a CIoT device). Such a WCD device may receive from a core serving node (CSN) admittance information (AI) (e.g., parameters, such as thresholds, used by the ACF to regulate the uplink traffic) that is used in performing the admittance control.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2015Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET LM ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventor: Hans Bertil Rönneke

Publication number: 20190394712Abstract: Systems and methods for network event reporting are provided. In some embodiments, a method performed by a first entity for reporting wireless device connectivity events includes determining that a connectivity event has occurred for a wireless device; and communicating to a second entity that the connectivity event has occurred for the wireless device. In this way, in some embodiments, reporting of PDN Connectivity creation and deletion can be made on request and does not need to be always enabled for a UE with a configured UE Reachability Monitoring Event. Also, in some embodiments, Application Servers know when they can communicate with a CIoT device. The new parameters provided to the Application Server, i.e., IP Address, PDN Type and/or APN of the PDN Connection, also inform the Application Server how to communicate with the CIoT device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2019Publication date: December 26, 2019Inventor: Hans Bertil Rönneke

Patent number: 10368220Abstract: A server for controlling user MTC devices. The server ascertains if a user MTC device has an IP connection to a cellular access network, and if so, sends a message to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message. If a user MTC device does not have an IP connection, the server ascertains if the user MTC device is a mobile or a stationary user MTC device, and for a stationary user MTC device, the server sends a message to the cellular access network to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an IP connection, and for a mobile user MTC device, waits until the user MTC device has an IP connection, and for both kinds of user MTC devices, when the user MTC device has an IP connection, transmits a message to the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2012Date of Patent: July 30, 2019Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET LM ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Stefan Karl Toth, Gunnar Rydnell, Hans Bertil Rönneke, Hans-Åke Lund
