  • Patent number: 4521145
Abstract: A cutting or drilling apparatus comprises a body member adapted to be fixed to the chuck of a driving means for driving the apparatus into rotational movement. The body member receives the cutting or drilling tool at one front side thereof and is equipped with a coaxially arranged sleeve member, which is slidably and rotatably connected thereto. First, stop means limit sliding and rotational movement and second, locking means block sliding and rotational movement of the sleeve member. A scale on the sleeve member indicates the amount of axial displacement thereof relative to the body member. The apparatus is especially suitable for use with a conical sheet metal drilling tool.

  • Patent number: 4152008
Abstract: The invention proposes a braking device for a ski, particularly for braking a ski which has become detached from a ski boot and continues to run on, on its own, said device having a double-armed brake stirrup, whose arms can be tilted about an axis which runs at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the ski and which extend in the inoperative position along opposite sides of the ski, the arms being tilted into the braking position by the action of a spring, in which position the ends of the arms on one side of the axis project downwardly into the surface over which the ski is running and the ends of the arms on the other side of the axis, which are joined together and are intended to be pressed down by the ski boot, are tilted upwardly after separation of the ski boot from the ski. The spring for tilting the stirrup is tensioned between said connected ends of said arms and a mounting plate, defining a line of action extending substantially through said axis in said inoperative position.

  • Patent number: 4018455
Abstract: Ski braking devices are described for braking skis when they become accidentally detached from skiers' boots so as to bring the skis to rest in safe positions without hurting the skiers or other persons. Each described device has a frame with spaced parallel plates extending across the ski and a braking lever pivoted between them about an axis at one edge of the ski. A pivoted holding device snaps over the lever to hold it in an inoperative position in which it lies over the ski. When putting on the ski, the skier releases the holding device, for example with his boot, but the braking lever is retained in the inoperative position by the boot. On being released, the holding device is swung away from the braking lever by spring action. When the ski becomes detached, a spring swings the braking lever through about 270.degree. so that it projects downwards into the snow.
