  • Publication number: 20240145948
Abstract: An electrode for Earth grounding includes a plate for installation below a depth of covering material (e.g., soil or a foundation element), and a rod extending upwardly from a rod lower end attached to the plate, to a rod upper end for connection to a wire and disposed at a height above the plate that exceeds the depth of covering material. Accordingly, the connection to the wire is visible and accessible when the plate is installed below the depth of covering material. An installation is also provided including a concrete foundation element on a subgrade, a lower surface of the plate in contact with the grade, an upper surface of the plate and the rod lower end cast into the concrete foundation element, and the rod upper end disposed above the foundation element and exposed for connection to a wire.

  • Publication number: 20210320466
Abstract: A protective hood for outdoor electrical outlets or receptacles has an angled top surface, two side panels, and an angled bottom surface having an aperture. In one variant of the protective hood, the aperture in is configured to receive power cords for connection to an electrical outlet over which the protective hood has been mounted, such as an existing electrical outlet installed on a building wall or a power pedestal. In another variant of the protective hood, the aperture in the angled bottom surface is configured to allow an electrical outlet to be installed directly therein, but with the protective hood still being mountable over an electrical outlet on a building wall or power pedestal instead of having an electrical outlet installed in the aperture.

  • Publication number: 20180351336
Abstract: A mounting device for outdoor electrical outlets includes an upper plate and a lower plate arranged and interconnected in a generally V-shaped configuration, and is adapted for recessed installation into a power pedestal or other structure. The upper and lower plates may be contiguous along their inner edges. Alternatively, an intermediate plate may be disposed therebetween, giving the mounting device a trapezoidal configuration. Either or both of the upper and lower plates may be sloped, and side plates may extend between the side edges of the upper and lower plates. The upper plate has an aperture for an electrical outlet, which when installed in the aperture will face generally downward and thus be protected from rain and snow. The outer edges of the upper and lower plates, and of the side plates when present, may have mounting flanges to facilitate installation of the mounting device in a power pedestal.

  • Publication number: 20180342844
Abstract: A power pedestal for electrical outlets is mountable to a mounting surface by means of a pedestal base incorporating stress-relief means that will allow the pedestal to break away either partially or completely from the base in response to an external force acting on the pedestal so as to induce stresses in the pedestal base exceeding a predetermined magnitude. The pedestal base may have one or more vertical elements to which the pedestal can be connected. Ground attachment points may be provided in one or more of the vertical elements, for protection against loss of pedestal grounding in the event of impact damage to the pedestal. The power pedestal may include protective apparatus comprising an angled hood having an angled top surface and an angled bottom surface having an aperture for mounting an electrical outlet.

  • Publication number: 20180040995
Abstract: A power pedestal for electrical outlets is mountable to a mounting surface by means of a pedestal base. The pedestal base incorporates at least one stress relief feature that will allow the power pedestal to break away from the pedestal base in response to an external force acting on the power pedestal so as to induce stresses in the pedestal base exceeding a predetermined breaking point. The power pedestal may then be remounted to the mounting surface using a new pedestal base replacing the broken pedestal base. Optionally, the power pedestal may be provided with protective apparatus for protecting electrical outlets installed in the power pedestal from exposure to weather. The protective apparatus may comprise an angled hood having an angled top surface, at least two side panels, and an angled bottom surface having an aperture.
