  • Patent number: 4394487
Abstract: Adsorbents are provided for the affinity-specific separation of macromolecular materials, particularly biopolymers, the adsorbents comprising a polymeric carrier on to which an affine residue for the macromolecular material is covalently bound, either directly or via polymeric spacer. Preferred affine residue is comprised of a specific complex formers which are base-specific and/or structure specific for the macromolecular material. The invention also provides novel complex formers comprising a certain dyestuff residues and processes for their preparation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 7, 1981
Date of Patent: July 19, 1983
    Assignee: Boehringer Mannheim GmbH
    Inventors: Werner Muller, Hans Bunemann

  • Patent number: 4207200
Abstract: The invention provides soluble complex forming agents suitable for specific separation of macromolecular substances and particularly of such biopolymers as nucleic acids. These agents contain soluble polymers, such as polyethyleneglycols of a molecular weight between 200 and 40,000, dextran of a molecular weight of 3.times.10.sup.-3 to 3.times.10.sup.-6 and linear polyacrylamides; to these soluble polymers at least one base specific group for nucleic acids is covalently bound. The bonding can be achieved by esterification, grafting, copolymerization or copolycondensation.

Date of Patent: June 10, 1980
Inventors: Werner Muller, Antonin Eigel, Hans-Jurgen Schuetz, Hans Bunemann
