  • Patent number: 6177494
Abstract: Non-crystallizing N,N′-disubstituted N-(2-hydroxyalkyl)-ureas are used as hydrolysis protection agents in plastics containing ester groups. These disubstituted hydroxy-alkylureas impart excellent protection from hydrolysis to plastics containing ester groups and can be added directly to the plastics to be stabilized without the addition of special solvents.

  • Patent number: 5601881
Abstract: The coating of bodies rotating about an axis with a reaction mixture forming a polyurethane can be improved by making use of a sheet die disposed parallel to the axis of rotation of the body at an angle .alpha., whereby the rate of reaction of the reaction mixture and the relative movement are synchronized with the circumferential speed of the rotating body in such a way that the successive convolutions overlap in the form of scales and connect together seamlessly.

  • Patent number: 5470515
Abstract: For insulating pipes by application of at least one insulating layer and at least one outer surface layer by rotational molding, a rigid polyurethane foam is used as the insulating layer while a solid polyurethane is used as the surface layer.

  • Patent number: 4758601
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process for the production of waterproof, fine-cell polyurethane elastomers having a density of about 300 to 800 kg/m.sup.3 by reacting(a) organic polyisocyanates,(b) polyhydroxyl compounds having a molecular weight of about 400 to about 8000,(c) water and, optionally,(d) organic chain-extending agents containing at least two isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms and having a molecular weight of 32 to 399,the equivalent ratio of isocyanate groups to NCO-reactive groups in the overall formulation being about 0.90:1 to 1.20:1, characterized in that polysiloxane ionomers are added to the water/crosslinker component in concentrations of about 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the reaction mixture as a whole.

  • Patent number: 4716210
Abstract: This invention relates to special combinations of polyurethane-urea-forming starting components which are suitable for corrosion-inhibiting wear prevention by casting, centrifugal casting or spraying. Said components are liquid, relatively low viscosity mixtures of polymer-containing or polyadduct-containing polypropylene oxide polyols and/or ethylene oxide-containing polypropylene oxide polyols having a small content of special, low-melting, readily soluble aromatic diamines and tertiary amine catalysts as component (A) which are reacted at room temperature with liquid polyisocyanates based on diphenyl methane diisocyanate or their NCO-prepolymers with polyether polyols as components (B).

  • Patent number: 4294934
Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a process for the production of polyurethane urea elastomers having a gross density of more than 200 kg/m.sup.3 comprising: casting a reaction mixture of(A) an isocyanate prepolymer produced from(a) 1 mole of a compound containing at least 2 Zerewitinoff-active hydrogen atoms and having a molecular weight of from 400 to 10,000 and(b) 2 to 10 moles of diisocyanatodiphenylmethane,(B) an aromatic diamine, and(C) 0 to 50 mole percent, based on component (B), of a polyol containing primary hydroxyl groups and having a molecular weight of from 62 to 6000, the equivalent ratio between component (A) and components (B) + (C) amounting to between 0.9:1 and 1.

  • Patent number: 4053537
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the production of elastic composites, preferably used as floor coverings, from plastics granulates and polyisocyanates acting as binders. The process broadly comprises coating the plastic granulates with a paste of hydroxyl containing polyether, filler, and optionally pigment, subsequently mixing the coated granulates with the polyisocyanate binder, and thereafter molding and curing the resultant composite.

  • Patent number: 4025579
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing elastic laminates by admixing elastomeric granules with a moisture hardenable polyurethane binder and hardening the binder. The binder is formulated to have a workable viscosity at room temperature and to avoid crystallization at temperatures above about 0.degree. C. The binder is the reaction product of polyisocyanates of the diphenyl methane series having at least 20 wt. % of 2,4'-diisocyanatodiphenyl methane and di- and/or trihydroxy polyethers. The invention also relates to the binder composition itself and a process for preparing it. The binder has a viscosity of about 1000 to 15,000 cP at 20.degree. C and an NCO content of about 5 to 15 wt. %. It is prepared at an NCO to OH ratio of about 2:1 to 15:1 and at about 15.degree. to 100.degree. C.
