  • Patent number: 6434477
Abstract: A method for requesting and for processing traffic information, in which a traffic-information query is transmitted by a mobile transceiver, and at least one traffic message is provided by a service provider via a base station, the traffic message being transmitted as a brief coded message. Information about the version of the stored data or data groups in the memory allocated to the mobile transceiver, and/or the manufacturer of the stored data or data groups and/or the issue date of the stored data or data groups is transmitted to the base station in the traffic-information query, so that in the return message of the traffic information, the base station can undertake the coding in such a way that the coded data can be well utilized on the basis of the stored data in the vehicle. In this manner, even given changing data, it is ensured in all events that the mobile transceiver is able to interpret the coded traffic messages.

  • Patent number: 5855959
Abstract: A process for depositing catalytically active platinum metal layers from an ionogenic, acidic, platinum metal ions-containing solution which further contains sulfonic acid. This activation leads to more uniform catalyst layers with greater surfaces which are catalytically more efficient. The process according to the invention can be implemented in any chemical process utilizing platinum metal catalysts, e.g. chemical synthesis, environment applications or metallization of surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4714484
Abstract: A ventilating device for a gas-carrying flowing fluid medium, includes a gas collecting chamber having an open bottom, a housing below the collecting chamber, and a tube disposed substantially horizontally in the housing below the gas collecting chamber for conducting the medium and reducing the velocity of the medium, the tube defining a space surrounding the tube in the housing, and the tube having a wall with lateral openings formed therein permitting gas bubbles to rise through the wall openings into the space and from the space into the gas collecting chamber.

  • Patent number: 4655254
Abstract: A control valve, in particular, an electrohydraulic control valve for controlling the injection pump of a diesel engine, incorporates a slider which is guided in a housing, in a manner permitting movement in the axial direction, the housing possessing radial flow-ports and, in the region of the inner peripheral surface, at least one annular space carrying a fluid. In order to ensure that the control-valve housing can be manufactured economically, the annular space is formed by a plurality of flow-ports which intersect in the region of the inner peripheral surface of the housing and pierce the housing radially.

  • Patent number: 4546426
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling the position of an actuator contemplates generating a signal indicative of actuator position, generating a signal indicative of desired actuator position, comparing the actuator position signal to the desired actuator position signal, and generating an error signal from the comparison. The error signal is provided to a control unit, and an adaptation signal is generated in an adaptive system. A control signal is provided by the control unit, and is combined with the adaptation signal to provide an adapted control signal. The adapted control signal is provided to the actuator to control it.

  • Patent number: 4256543
Abstract: An electrochemical cell having a polarographic device and preferably containing formamide as electrolyte is suitable for detecting very small quantities of phosgene in a gas mixture. Water, sodium acetate and thickener may be added to the electrolyte.

  • Patent number: 4235689
Abstract: The measuring cell for detecting traces of nitrogen dioxide comprises a working electrode, preferably a silver mesh coated with silver iodide, an auxiliary and a reference electrode. The working electrode is an ion-selective electrode and cathodically polarized. If a reactor is preceded, in which the gas is oxidized by heating, other nitrogen containing gaseous substances, f. e. acrylonitrile and hydrocyanic acid, can also be detected very sensitively.

  • Patent number: 4227974
Abstract: The sensitivity and, especially, the selectivity of a polarographic device can be increased by using an ion selective electrode as the working electrode in the electrochemical cell. The cell is a high sensitivity gas detector which is reliable in operation and which is particularly suitable for use in the field of environmental protection. Especially silver/silver iodide electrodes used in various electrolytes are particularly suitable for detecting hydrocyanic acid, phosgene and hydrogen sulphide.
