  • Patent number: 4411527
Abstract: A ring laser gyroscope having a triangular block configuration is dithered about its center of gravity. An optical wedge attached to the output mirror allows the center of support to include the line of symmetry of the block, thereby reducing temperature gradients, which could cause output signals in the absence of an input angular rate across the instrument. The optical wedge, a mirror and a beamsplitter form an interferometer to compensate the output signal of the ring laser to produce an output free from influence of the dither motion. The mirror and beamsplitter are adjustable to allow for small corrections necessary to exactly compensate the dither-motion and to achieve 90.degree. phase shift between the outputs from photodetectors.

  • Patent number: 4319463
Abstract: A refrigerated display chest with an open top has an air circulation channel to enable flow of air in one direction for a cooling cycle, and reverse flow for a defrosting cycle. A diversion channel is provided at the front of the chest, to direct exhaust air away from the chest, during defrosting cycles, so as to avoid interference with external air drawn into the chest at this time.

  • Patent number: 4202089
Abstract: A machine for manufacturing high strength flexure hinges having use in accelerometers. A source of metal material is splat-cooled after it has been heated to a molten state. An induction heater heats the metal material to the molten state and the molten metal is rapidly cooled while being pressed between two water cooled wheels. The wheels are provided with indentations and protuberances on their surfaces to produce flexure hinges and strengthening beams. A chute is provided to catch the flexures as they leave the wheels preventing damage to them.

  • Patent number: 4182130
Abstract: The method and apparatus relates to defrosting cooling elements in an open type display cooler or freezer cabinet. The method involves circulating air over cooling elements and over the open display cabinet top having articles therein that are cooled or frozen. The air, during circulation, is taken into a channel along a side edge of the stored articles, and a guide member assumes another position other than its normal position during defrosting.
