  • Patent number: 4578540
Abstract: A telecommunications system is disclosed which is user programmable permitting inter and intrapremises communications from existent two-wire telephone extension sets at a customer's premises. The system may be functionally described as a telephone call interceptor comprising a number of building blocks for providing a plurality of features which the existent telephone extension sets may not be capable of by themselves. A data processor (110) receives data input from an incoming ringing signal detector (140), a telephone signal receiver (115), a dial tone detector (160) or from an associated user-activatable data input device (117). Responsive to the data input, the data processor provides output through a speech processor (150), a telephone signal generator (116), a ring generator (119) or through an associated data output device (113) such as a loudspeaker.

  • Patent number: 4504922
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled condition sensor comprising a parallel multiport microprocessor, precision resistor, capacitor, and one or more transducers (e.g., thermistor) determines the value of the condition being sensed (e.g. temperature) by calculating the resistance of the transducer through the ratio of interval 0/1 threshold timings determined by the RC time constants of precision resistor-capacitor and transducer-capacitor connections. The value of the condition (e.g., temperature) is subsequently obtained via a lookup table within the microprocessor which contains the relationship between transducer resistance and condition magnitude.

  • Patent number: 4456793
Abstract: The present key telephone system comprises cordless telephone stations (FIGS. 6 and 7) which communicate over a line-of-sight transmission end link (276 or 277). The system further comprises a central controller (101) for switching communications between the cordless stations and to the message network. The central controller does not provide any station to transmission channel concentration. Concentration occurs in the bidding by a cordless station for access to a channel provided by the line-of-sight transmission end link. A particular number of transmission channels are provided by the line-of-sight end link which are bid for by any practical number of cordless stations. Subsystem controllers (104) are provided in a large cordless key telephone system. The subsystem controller reformats data for transmission between the central controller (101) and a cordless station.

  • Patent number: 4264934
Abstract: A rate adaptive magnetic card writer records data on a card having a magnetizable surface while the card is moved by hand through a slot on the card writer. The rate of movement of the card is determined and then used in adjusting the writing of the data such that it occurs at a rate generally consistent with the speed of the card. The written data is thereby reasonably dispersed on the card and can be read by a variable speed card reader.

  • Patent number: 4259728
Abstract: Analog readout devices are disclosed which utilize domain wall motion in a film of ferroelectric material to produce an electrical signal having a desired waveform. Disclosed devices comprise electrodes disposed on facing sides of the film, at least one electrode being patterned in correspondence with the desired waveform. Readout from devices may be direct or as the difference between two signals produced by domain wall motion. In the latter case, constant-width pairs of electrodes may be used in combination with a feedback circuit to ensure constant-velocity ferroelectric wall motion.
