  • Patent number: 5369994
Abstract: The invention is directed to a flow sensor having a heater, two temperature measuring sensors, a heater temperature sensor and a medium temperature sensor. A control circuit is provided which controls the overtemperature of the heater in dependence upon the temperature of the flowing medium. With this arrangement, the influence of the temperature dependency of the following on the sensor characteristic are compensated: viscosity, thermal conductance and thermal capacity of the medium. The relationship between the heater temperature and the temperature of the medium is adjusted in a slightly nonlinear manner by means of special evaluation circuits. In this way, a further improvement of the temperature compensation is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5256464
Abstract: A substrate for electronic components has a layer of material covering at least a portion of the substrate. Recesses are formed in a layer of material and located in a pattern relative to each other to form a predetermined temperature distribution across the layer of material. The layer of material can be formed as a resistive film for a heating resistor element. The shape, size and pattern of the recesses are selected to balance the thermal stress across the surface of the layer of material.

  • Patent number: 5186051
Abstract: A device for measuring a flowing air quantity is proposed which comprises a sensor element which is exposed to the flowing air, is constructed in thick-film technology and contains a heating film resistor (R.sub.H), which is arranged on an insulating substrate (10) and through which current flows, and a sensor film resistor (R.sub.S) which is likewise arranged on the insulating substrate (10), serves to sense the temperature of the heating film resistor (R.sub.H) and is a component of a bridge circuit. The heating film resistor (R.sub.H) and the sensor film resistor (R.sub.S), separated from one another by an intermediate film (13) which is a good conductor of heat but is electrically insulating, are accommodated in a bubble (11) which is made of ceramic material, in particular of glass ceramic, and is arched on the insulating substrate (10). The thin diaphragm (14) made of a ceramic material ensures effective thermal uncoupling of the film resistors (R.sub.H, R.sub.S) from the insulating substrate (10).

  • Patent number: 5153556
Abstract: A fast-responding temperature sensor, for measuring temperature of a medium, features a resistance element (12) formed as a film on an insulating substrate (10). The resistance element is disposed in a bubble or dome (11) of ceramic, preferably glass ceramic, which is formed on, and bowed with respect to, the insulating substrate (10).

  • Patent number: 5134885
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for measuring a mechanical deformation includes a pressure sensor with compression-deformable resistors for generating an analog deformation-dependent signal and a circuit for evaluating the analog deformation-dependent signal. The evaluating circuit includes a summing amplifier and a temperature-dependent coupling resistor connected between the input of the summing amplifier and the pressure sensor. The coupling resistor has a temperature coefficient adjusted to compensate for the temperature characteristic of the measuring sensitivity of the analog deformation-dependent signal. A temperature sensor generates a temperature-dependent signal corresponding to a static temperature characteristic of the evaluating circuit. There is provided a circuit for applying the temperature-dependent signal to the input of the summing amplifier to combine it with the analog deformation-dependent signal.

  • Patent number: 4873490
Abstract: A circuit arrangement is proposed which generates a temperature-dependent output signal that has a virtually ideally quadratic temperature dependency. The circuit arrangement is therefore particularly well suited for high-precision temperature compensation in sensor signal evaluation circuits. At the same time, it is particularly suitable for production by thick-film or thin-film techniques.

  • Patent number: 4777820
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the flow rate of a flowing medium having a substrate as a carrier and a resistor arrangement disposed on the substrate which among other elements includes a layer-like measuring resistor (R.sub.H) as well as a likewise layer-like heating resistor (R.sub.S), the heating output of which is regulated such that the measuring resistor (R.sub.H) has a constant temperature, the heating output of the heating resistor (R.sub.S) being a standard for the flow rate of the flowing medium. The surface area of (R.sub.S) is greater than the surface area of (R.sub.H) and extends farther toward a fastening of the substrate, in order to prevent a flow of heat out of the vicinity of the measuring resistor (R.sub.H). The measuring resistor (R.sub.H) and the heating resistor (R.sub.S) are located on the downstream portion of the substrate, on a lip set off by a slit. With this disposition of the measuring resistor (R.sub.H), soiling of the substrate affects the measurement result only slightly.

  • Patent number: 4711130
Abstract: A pressure measuring element includes a plate-shaped substrate of ceramic material and a membrane deformable in response to pressure fluctuations. The membrane is made of ceramic material and is mounted to the upper side of the substrate. A pressure-sensitive resistor for measuring pressure is positioned inside the membrane. A heating resistor element is positioned on the underside of the substrate, which maintains the temperature of the substrate constant. A temperature sensor is also arrayed on the upper side of the substrate near the membrane.

  • Patent number: 4387338
Abstract: A method for testing a metallic workpiece by eddy currents induced by a test coil in the workpiece, in which a measured variable that is a function of the test coil impedance serves as a measure for workpiece physical properties. The circuit includes an oscillator with an amplifier and two resonant circuits adjusted to neighboring frequencies f.sub.1, f.sub.2, the test coil impedance is at least part of the inductive component of one or both resonant circuits and a variable component influences the resonant frequency of one of the resonant circuits.

  • Patent number: 4354315
Abstract: A measuring arrangement at a roller way formed by rotatably mounted rollers includes a supporting body movable along the roller way and thus setting the rollers in rotation. At the supporting body, sensors are arranged which coact with the surface areas of the rollers and measure the distance between the surface areas of the rollers and a neutral line provided within the supporting body. In order to be able to find out distorted or eccentrically mounted rollers by continuously moving through the measuring arrangement, the supporting body, on the side facing the roller way, has at least three sensors arranged at a distance from one another in the direction parallel to the moving direction of the supporting body. The sensors measure the surface area of a roller in subsequent angular positions.
