Abstract: The invention relates to space-saving micro- and nano-components and to methods for producing same. The components are characterized in that they do not comprise a rigid substrate having a considerable thickness. The mechanical stresses, which result in deformations and/or warpage within a component, are compensated by means of a mechanically stress-compensated design and/or by means of active mechanical stress compensation by depositing suitable stress compensation layers such that there is no need for relatively thick substrates. Thus, the overall thickness of the components is decreased and the integration options thereof in technical systems are improved. In addition, the field of application of such components is expanded.

Abstract: To enable a read-write head to perform a fast and accurate track following, the invention proposes a read-write head (1), which exhibits: a first block (11) and a carrier (14) movably attached to the first block (11) carrying a read-write element, and at least one electromagnetic actuator device, with at least one electromagnetic element (8, 9) to generate magnetic forces, which are acting upon the carrier (14).

Abstract: Disk surfaces for magnetic disk memories used in data processing systems are smoothened by a burnishing-like device consisting of a circular-cylindrical-shaped body (sliding block) having opposing flat base surfaces with at least one sharp-edged groove positioned on at least one of the base surfaces. This smoothening device is pressed manually or by a support mount similar to a magnetic data-head support mount of a magnetic disk memory against a disk surface while relative motion is provided between the device and the disk whereby the groove edges contact any surface irregularities on a disk surface being smoothened while the flat areas between the groove edges prevent undue disk surface damage.
