    Abstract: A coupler for an automation system for controlling a process having a network interface for connection to an Ethernet-based network for receiving an Ethernet telegram having process data of the process and having control data. A local bus interface connects to a local bus for transmitting a local bus telegram. A circuit is formed between the network interface and the local bus interface. The circuit includes an arithmetic circuit for retrieving the process data from a payload data area of the Ethernet telegram. The circuit includes a first data filter circuit, which differs from the arithmetic circuit, for filtering out a predetermined subset of the control data from a header of the Ethernet telegram preceding the payload data area. The circuit is configured to generate the local bus telegram and to insert the process data and the predetermined subset of the control data into the local bus telegram.

    Abstract: A microprocessor system for a machine controller used in safety-critical applications includes a main processor, a program and/or data store, an input/output unit and a bus. The bus couples the components and at least one safety processor together. The safety processor has a dedicated program/data store. A safe transmission link is provided for loading programs and data into the safety processor. The transmission link includes the general bus and a mailbox (87) which has a state machine whose input is connected to the general bus and whose output is connected to the safety processor. As a result, program data can be written to the safety processor's program store without the risk of being manipulated. This makes it possible for the program data to be loaded into the safety processor safely using the bus which is not safe per se. The bus thus does not need to belong to the safe area. Certification of the microprocessor controller is thus simplified.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for positioning a pen in a recording device for recording the time profile of a measurement signal which can be connected. In order to implement the highest possible mapping accuracy of the measurement signal onto the recording signal at a low cost and with DC isolation between the measurement signal and drive means of the pen, it is proposed that the positioning error (300) be phase-width modulated, the pulse-width-modulated positioning error (400) be transmitted in a floating manner to a signal converter (70), and a control voltage for the electric motor (90) be determined using the signal converter (70) from the pulse-width-modulated positioning error (400) by normalizing the difference between the pulse duration and the pulse-pause duration, via the sum of the pulse duration and the pulse-pause duration.
