  • Patent number: 8955755
Abstract: A data carrier configuration method and apparatus are disclosed. The data carrier configuration including an electronic data carrier and a transport carrier. The transport carrier has a top surface and forms a recess, the area of the recess having an opening of a length and width sized to accommodate passage of the electronic data carrier. The recess has a depth that is substantially similar to the thickness of the electronic data carrier. The transport carrier serves as a base upon which the electronic data carrier will releasably attach.

Date of Patent: February 17, 2015
Assignee: Giesecke & Devrient America, Inc.
    Inventors: Hans Heusmann, Albert Ojster
  • Patent number: 8464955
Abstract: A data carrier configuration includes a card-like carrier having a recess and an electronic data carrier in the form of an IC card which is removably mounted in the recess. The data carrier has an arrangement for fastening on an object. Methods for the production of such a configuration include making the carrier rigid and the IC card flexible, so that introduction of the data carrier into the recess and removal of same from the recess are possible via unrolling of the electronic data carrier. The fastening arrangement is in the form of a self-adhesive layer, which is covered by a removable protective layer.

  • Patent number: 8282010
Abstract: A security element has a housing assembled from two housing members, and an IC card placed between the two housing members. The IC card is a detachable part of a larger base card within which it is disposed in a recess and to which it is connected via bars provided with a rated breaking point. The internal contour surrounding the recess in the base card encloses a surface area which is equal to or larger than the cross-sectional area of the housing at the level of the seat. The assembly of the security element can be so carried out that the IC card is broken out of the base card only after the housing members are joined to form the finished housing.

  • Publication number: 20090272813
Abstract: Proposed is a security element (1) with a housing (60) assembled from two housing members (40, 50), and an IC card (30) placed therein. The IC card (30) is a detachable part of a larger base card (10) within which it is disposed in a recess (20) and to which it is connected via bars (15) provided with a rated breaking point. The internal contour (13) surrounding the recess (20) in the base card (10) encloses a surface area which is equal to or larger than the cross-sectional area of the housing (60) at the level of the seat (46). The assembly of the security element (1) can be so carried out that the IC card (30) is broken out of the base card (10) only after the housing members (40, 50) are joined to form the finished housing (60).

  • Patent number: 5840035
Abstract: In a method for spectroscopic examination of a biological tissue the tissue is irradiated with light having an intensity l.sub.0 (.lambda.) with the wavelength .lambda. being varied, a transmission or reflection spectrum l(.lambda.) is obtained by measuring the intensity of the radiation transmitted or reflected by the tissue dependent on the wavelength .lambda., and an approximate description of the measured transmission or reflection spectrum l(.lambda.) or of the spectrum l(.lambda.)/l.sub.0 (.lambda.) normalized to the incident radiation intensity, or of the quantity log {l(.lambda.)/l.sub.0 (.lambda.)} with an analytical function is made. The analytical function has a Beer-Lambert dependency on a first parameter which describes the absorption properties of the tissue and has a second parameter which is the average path length L(.lambda.) of the photons in the tissue, representing a slice thickness. The first parameter is dependent on concentrations c.sub.
