  • Patent number: 7614781
Abstract: In an apparatus for mixing components in a mixing chamber, those parts of the mixing chamber which will come into contact with the components are defined by a foil material which can be renewed between two successive mixing/processing operations. The mixing chamber may be defined between two co-operating mould parts. The mixing/processing chamber also may be defined by the foil material itself. In a method for mixing components in a mixing chamber such a foil material is renewed between two successive mixing operations. Further there is provided a pre-shaped elongate web of foil material for use in an apparatus.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 2003
Date of Patent: November 10, 2009

  • Publication number: 20040126480
Abstract: A new way to improve utilization by institutions of food service items. Institutions which provide to consumers ready-to-consume foods can expedite their service by using foods which have been subject, in whole or in part, to high pressure preservation. Use of high pressure preservation avoids or minimizes the need for refrigeration of the food, thus reducing costs, sparing resources and lowering space requirements. Likewise, the need for microwave equipment is decreased or eliminated. Elimination or decreasing refrigeration requirements decreases preparation and serving time since the time required for thawing the product is reduced or eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20040071842
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treatment of a product, in particular preservation of a food product or pharmaceutical product, by use or high pressure. The invention is characterized in that the high pressure process is carried out under such conditions that leakage of heat from the product to the surrounding material is minimized or even prevented. In one embodiment the product is pressurized to at least 100 MPa at a pressure is at least 5 MPa·s−1. In one embodiment the vessel wall has a heat conductivity no higher than 25 W·m−1·K−1, preferably not higher than 10 W·m−1·K−1, more preferably not higher that 1 W·m−1·K−1 . In another embodiment a liner is used having an adiabatic temperature rise of between 1 and 10 K per 100 MPa, preferably between 2 and 7 K per MPa.
