  • Publication number: 20050183421
Abstract: Recovery of electric power from low-grade waste heat/solar energy, comprising a closed-cycle charged refrigerant loop. Pressurized refrigerant fluid is pumped at ambient temperature through a heat exchanger connected to a waste heat/solar source to extract heat energy during conversion to a high pressure gas. Heated/pressurized refrigerant gas is inlet into an expander to power an output shaft during the expansion of the fluid to a cooled gas at approximately 0 psig. Cooled gaseous refrigerant is condensed to a liquid at low pressure and ambient temperature, and recycled under pressure to the heat exchanger. The expander is a reverse-plumbed gas compressor; the pressurized, hot refrigerant gas is inlet at what is ordinarily its outlet, and the normal inlet becomes the expander end. The refrigerant gas mass flow pressure/temperature drop spins the expander shaft for direct mechanical power take-off, or coupling to a synchronous or inductive generator to produce electricity.

  • Patent number: 6644682
Abstract: The combination of a binding and boot is provided. The binding has a pair of pistons (7, 8) extending under the boot. Each piston is stressed by a spring (14, 15). The arms of a sole clamp (2, 3) act on these pistons. The pistons are connected together by a linking device (20). The combination magnetically controls the linking device which is capable of occupying a first position, in which the pistons arc secured by the linking device, and a second position in which one of the pistons is able to move on its own, at least over a certain travel common to the two pistons. The combination thus provides asymmetrical release resistance.

  • Patent number: 4573369
Abstract: A linear drive has a pneumatic or hydraulic actuator cylinder, whose piston rod is fixed in place and whose moving, axially guided cylinder forms a supporting and driving part of a stroke ratio changing transmission for transmitting the relative motion between the cylinder and its axial guide to a linearly moving drive output member. A useful effect is produced by having the output member (1) guided on the outside on a slotted tube, a driving spur of the member (1) running in the slot in the tube and being fixed to the stroke ratio changing transmission that is inside. The tube placed round the cylinder is used for axially guiding the cylinder. The stroke ratio changing transmission is for example in the form of two pulleys mounted on the cylinder and a cord trained over them, the cord being fixed to the member and joined to the tube by a mounting arrangement.
