  • Publication number: 20130018137
Abstract: A masterbatch comprising pigment and demoulding agent is provided. The demoulding agent is selected from the group comprising low molecular weight polyolefin oils, low molecular weight polyolefin waxes, montan waxes and aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid esters of fatty acids and/or fatty alcohols, wherein the pigment content of the masterbatch is from 3 to 70 wt. %, based on the total weight of the masterbatch. The masterbatch is suitable for preparation of a polymer composition having improved pigment dispersion.

  • Publication number: 20120230146
Abstract: A mixing silo for free-flowing finely divided solid materials, in particular for powdered, fibrous and/or granular mixed material, especially polymer granules, specifically suited for mixing polymer granules, having an excellent mixing quality and at the same time a simplified and improved suitability for washing out in order to avoid cross contamination. The mixing silo may be used for homogenizing possibly inhomogeneous polymer granule batches in the form of a stream of product from a process producing polymer granules.

  • Publication number: 20110213051
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use, in a compounding process for the preparation of pigmented impact-modified thermoplastic polymer compositions, of a mixture comprising A) from 60 to 98 parts by weight, based on the sum of components A and B, of at least one graft polymer, used in powder form, consisting of a rubber-elastic core and a grafted polymer component as the shell, B) from 2 to 40 parts by weight, based on the sum of components A and B, of at least one inorganic or organic liquid compound, and C) at least one pigment, characterised in that the graft polymer A and/or the pigment C absorbs or adsorbs the liquid inorganic or organic compound B, and the boiling point of component B at normal pressure is below the temperature of the polymer melt during the compounding.

  • Publication number: 20100210789
Abstract: The present invention relates to a compounding method for producing impact-modified thermoplastic compositions with a low content of volatile organic compounds (hereinafter VOCs), wherein relatively inexpensive polymer raw materials with a comparatively elevated initial VOC content may be used, resulting in lowered production costs for producing such VOC-reduced polymer compositions.

  • Patent number: 7153929
Abstract: Rubber-free copolymers of unsaturated monomers selected from the group comprising styrenes and vinyl cyanides are disclosed. The copolymers that contain 65 to 80 wt. %, of styrene and 20 to 35 wt. % of acrylonitrile are characterized in their low content of residual monomers and improved physical properties. Also disclosed are a process and a device for the preparation of these copolymers.

  • Patent number: 6465570
Abstract: The present invention relates to a continuous process for the production of impact resistance-modified thermoplastics. An elastomer, in particular a particulate graft polymer with a water moisture content of 1 to 50%, preferably 10 to 40%, is incorporated into a thermoplastics melt in a large volume kneader reactor. The mixing ratio of elastomer to thermoplastics melt is 4:1 to 1:4. The energy required to melt the elastomer and to evaporate the adhering water is added by heating the walls of the apparatus and via the kneading action of the installed rotating parts.
