  • Patent number: 8016049
Abstract: In a method of installing a borehole heat exchanger in the earth, a channel is formed in the earth by means of a pushing device, thereby causing a compression of the earth as a result of earth being displaced, and inserting a borehole heat exchanger in the channel, causing an elastic component of the earth to move toward the heat exchanger as the earth relaxes in order to provide an intimate contact between the earth and the heat exchanger. Installation of the borehole heat exchanger in elastically displaced earth ensures not only a stable and lasting securement of the heat exchanger in the earth but also the intimate contact between earth and heat exchanger wall so important for heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 6772134
Abstract: Control apparatus for a horizontal boring tool is described which drives a boring lance via boring rods. The tool includes an input interface for receiving actual values of controlled variables of the horizontal boring tool, and an output unit for issuing control signals for controlling the horizontal boring tool. Between the input interface and the output unit is provided a fuzzy control unit which determines the control signals for activation of the horizontal boring tool from the actual values of the controlled variables and the desired values for the controlled variables by fuzzy logic while taking into account heuristic process values. The control apparatus permits automatic operation of the horizontal boring tool with good course steering and high precision.

  • Patent number: 6325164
Abstract: The drilling device is for creating bore-hole branches in unconsolidated rock. The device includes a fully-controllable pilot drill head with drill rods attached thereto. The pilot drill head has an opening on its periphery. The pilot drill head has further outlet openings through which a reinforcing-action drill suspension may be dispensed into a site where a bore-hole branch is to be created. An inner drill head is mounted for longitudinal movement within the pilot drill head and may be deflected out of the pilot drill head and its path by a deflection part within the pilot drill head. Upon its deflection, the inner drill head is directed through the opening on the periphery of the pilot drill head and into a bore-hole branch site.

  • Patent number: 5816748
Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for sealing off ground sites in particular a waste dump, abandoned dumping grounds, pipelines or the like, or also excavated construction sites, using sealants, wherein a fully course-controlled boring technique is used to drive at least one bore underneath the ground site from the surface outside the ground site and the sealant is injected into the soil surrounding the bore. To implement the process, jets for injecting the sealant into the soil are mounted on the steerable remote-controlled boring head.

  • Patent number: 5755285
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for decontaminating soil containing harmful substances, wherein a number of bore holes (11) are advanced to the areas at the edge of the area (21) of contaminated soil by means of a course controlled boring method, then under a continuation of the boring a directed injection of at least one appropriate injection medium (8) from the bore holes (11) is carried out such that the harmful substances are forced into a smaller soil area (21) and are finally removed. Furthermore, the invention relates to a boring head for carrying out the method according to the invention. The boring head includes a tubular boring head body with an inner flow passage and a boring head tip connected to the boring head body and having a convex tip surface the head tip has a plurality of openings connected to the inner passage.

  • Patent number: 5597045
Abstract: For the induction of underground collector mains, in particular for the ctruction of horizontal filter wells and drainage mains, at least one bore (1) having respectively an inlet aperture (3) and an outlet aperture (4) is introduced into predetermined layers of soil. Then a filter strand drawing in unit (5) which consists of an inner filter strand and an outer protective pipe is inducted into the respective bore (1) and finally the outer protective pump of the filter strand drawing in unit (5) is removed. The filter strand in unit is used as a tool consisting of an inner filter strand and an outer protective pipe. In a preferred further development, the intermediate space between the inner filter strand and the outer protective pipe is provided with filter sand and/or a filter gravel filling.
